this lady pisses me off
Reciently a book "Pledged" was published by some idot woman who lied her way into the greek system in order to "expose the truth" about it. I bought this book to read it in order to see if any of the chapters that were discussed were from my sorority, and to well see what she decided to point out was so bad about my lifestyle. Ironically for the most part the book made me wish I went to a school where greek life was much more popular, my school is full of the teen angst people which most of us knew in high school. Which to say the least makes for a hostle campus for us greeks especially duirng recruitment. Back to my point what really pissed me off was that this woman blamed the sorority institution for certian woman's nreosies. I don't know if I'm missing out on something but personally from my experiences I feel that these woman are just looking for someone to blame because they happened to get into a fight with their sister that week or they all of a sudden aren't the popular ones of the group anymore. Every section of this book emphesises these "girls", in my organzation we have the respect to call our members ladies or women, needs to be excepted into some group for some popularity contest which continued through high school. The author even begins her book with her feelings of hoping that she will be excepted by these younger women whom she is lying to and spying on. Greek organizations are feared and studied because they are something that can only be known by a select few. They are about unity and finding a common goal among thousands of other men and women across the country. Weather it be through family tradition or just because, these institutions are something that should be left alone. Sure there my be many examples of greek related deaths but the same can be said about other institutions such as high school and college. Greek life is prayed on because of it's eleatist persona, any organization whom would exclude a preson because they didn't "fit" must be eleatist right? There is no way that hey could just be looking out for the good of their organization right? I mean if you were picking out a person for a job in the real world would you just chose anybody to fill it? No you would want the best person for it. Well to try and make my point people whom are not a part of the greek system in general shouldn't try and make assumptions about why we love our letters/organizations so much. The only people who should really know that information are the sisters or brothers of said organization. And I would just love it if certian stupid, medeling, jouranlists whom cannot even be secure with who they are at the age of 26 around a group of college women would just keep her big round head out of business which avbously does not concern her. I would also like to say that I am pleased that she did not recieve any good word from the New York Times which her book had claimed she was so adored my on the book jacket. At least we can get some suppot for them.
