My Thai friends loved him. Though I personally would have liked Ernie Els to win it. Getting tired of Americans winning it all. Speaking of winning it all, NY Giants, Dayne, maybe we'll finally have an above 80 rushing yrd avg per game.

OKAY THAT IS IT!! This has pushed a damn button- pardon my French.
Why are you all proud of him? Because he is a man of color? What does that mean for us as a people? He's not Black. I could still support him, as a person of color, except for the fact that he has REPEATEDLY made disparaging remarks about Black men. He has been quoted in EM and Esquire- I've read both articles.
So, anyone that full of self hatred has been voted out by my one-woman tribal council.
So what's the obsession?

I am NOT obsessesd with Tiger! I am happy for him and what he has accomplished.
Regardless of what HE THINKS... HE IS and WILL ALWAYS be BLACK! This is an issue he has to deal with. Sooner or later!

Ok, this doesn't happen much...but I am speechless! First off, I was and STILL am proud of Tiger, as a young man of color.(I believe that's how I worded it in my post). No post on Greekchat.com or words from any magazine will make me feel otherwise. I have not heard of any "disparaging remarks" made by Tiger, so it would be quite foolish of me to even try to make comments on them. What I did hear was something to the effect of he doesn't consider himself an African American because by doing that he will be denying who his mother is and that side of his family. He's entitled to feel that way. Now, I know I do not need to explain this to you (or Tiger) but *Newsflash* The Boy Is Black! His daddy black, and so is he! He is a young man of color who has done something no other man his age, white or black, has managed to do. So, PLEASE let's not rain on this man's parade. I respect your feelings Salience, don't get me wrong, but I'm just trying to show the man some love here. Does it really matter why? With all the hating and negativity that are sometimes spewed in these forums, when a sista is trying to show some love...don't question it , embrace it!

Dang Salience! After this topic, you and I are really going on Forgive or Forget!! I'm serious this time! But guess what?!? I'll still be at the door... even though you have a problem with Tiger! So go ahead and vent 'cause the love will still be here at the end!

Tiger's a great golfer, and that's all that matters. I'm proud of the fact that a young person from beginnings can break through in a patriarchal sport such as golf. Yes, I read the interview in Esquire, it offended me, but although he's great, he's also (at least, he was at that time) young and failed to use discretion. He's never denied that he's a man of color, and what's wrong if he doesn't want to deny either part of his heritage?
