Parent/Teacher Conferences

This is a shout out to all my fellow teachers!!!

Do you have any special tips or strategies that you use for parent/teacher conferences? Since it is drawing the end of the school year, I seem to have a rash of parents who think their child is the most amazing thing since sliced bread and they can't understand why they scored a low test....

I know to have all your paperwork ready to back me up, and notes prepared of past incidents with the student, and I am supported by my administration.

I guess I am looking for any strategies that you use to not be stressed about these conferences?

Hello!

This is my first post. I bet you'll never guess what sorority my daughter joined

I am an elementary teacher of the gifted and when I get the old "Hey, my kid is the best thing since sliced bread AND he's gifted...." I show how the test/assignment fits in with the learning goals of your program. Let the parent know what your goals are for their child and what can be done if the little darling is falling short. As a parent, that is all you can really ask for. Sometimes parents come across as frustrated because they are just really anxious about helping their child succeed.
