Please be careful what you say, I understand that you have already finished recruitment but it is not hard to figure out where you are going to school. This sorority you speak off is not considered "new", they closed I believe in Spring of 2002 under the condition to reorganize and come back as a colony this year. They had a very sucessful recruitment this Fall and I believe pledged 138 women. Colonizing is hard for chapters because they have to bring in other college members from other state schools and alumni to recruit. I hope that this story has a happy ending for you but please be careful what you say. If some find my response critical, I apologize.

Thank you

Just use it as a lesson...these boards can talk. Anyhow, I hope you found your home. Look forward to hearing the rest of your story

What I mean, is that things that are said on this board can come back to bite you in the butt. These boards are read by a lot of members of dif. greek orgs at a lot of schools around the country including where you go. Even though you have already been through recruitment and are merely giving everyone your initial impression of the houses, members of those houses can see those comments and it can be used against you. I don't know details but I think there were some PNMs who weren't careful in chosing their words on this board and it affected their recruitment. Just because this particular forum requires you to have usename and password to post doesn't mean the information we put forth here is not public. Even if there aren't members of those particular chapters at your school on this board, word can get back to them. I hope that clarifies things.

Just so you know how easy it is...

I live in WA. I don't know any of the schools in the south. But, I found the school in question in 5 seconds googling.

The internet is not private, and don't mistake it for being so.

My God! Chill out, people. All she said is the conversation was strained and she didn't think the sorority came off well. Big deal.

The veiled threats make you all just look childish.

To the OP, I hope you'll continue with your story. I'd love to hear how things went for you.

I don't think she has said anything that is derrogatory. In fact, I like how she put positive spins on what she had previously perceived.

I am sorry, but really???? These people have a little too much time on their hands/too thin skinned/immature if they are plotting ways to get back at someone for not loving a chapter of their glo when they went through rush as an 18 or 19 year old.

This is great, honest feedback that perhaps this Phi Mu chapter can learn from and use in the future.

No one was plotting anything against this girl and in fact I sent her a PM to apologize if she felt like it was coming off this way. Things on this board have been taken and used against people in the past and merely me and the others were just trying to warn her of that fact. No one was trying to jump down her throat or scare her off and if you feel that way, then I'm sorry it came off that way.

It's not like she said nasty rude things or horribly shallow remarks like "I don't want to be here because of their chipped toenail polish" or "I don't like their fake pearls". And it's not like she's telling the story in real time, so what would be "used against her"?

It's understandable that it was awkward at the colonizing chapter. Group conversations with members of the sorority from another school, it's not going to click for most people, and frankly, it doesn't have to since they will not be chapter sisters. A colonizing class has to be interested in colonizing and the work it entails.
