Screw that. Sandals and flip flops till the snow comes! We don't have that in-between weather in Michigan.

And I'll proudly be wearing my white sandals with my pink sundress on September 17.... during the recruitment .

Okay, I have a question because I've never cared for fashion "rules" at all. In areas of the country where the "rule" applies, what actually happens if you wear white shoes after Labor Day? Seriously.

For the most part, people will just lose respect for you and talk about you behind your back.

OMG, the Tooth Ferry gets really pissed off, Santa skips your house, and well, I won't tell you what the Easter Bunny does... but believe me, it’s bad!

Sorry... one of those moods.

I'm going away for the weekend tomorrow and I'll be wearing my white shorts one last time tomorrow.

Ditto to all of that.

Really, must we get into this again? It's fine if the culture where you live says that white shoes after Labor Day is a no-go, but just because a woman breaks these rules doesn't mean that her mother didn't "raise her right." If someone's mom raised her right, she wouldn't make assumptions on people's upbringings just because they decided not to follow some petty fashion rule that doesn't even exist in some parts of the country anymore.

But then, I would never wear white shoes with anything other than a wedding dress, my initiation dress or my white junior prom dress, so it's sort of irrelevant to me.

Heather, we should wear white shoes to Old North.

Seriously, this thread cracked me up. Is it okay to wear white tennis shoes after Sept. 1st or are those verboten also?

I think the white shoes to Old North is a great idea, and instead of velvet, our dresses should be linen. In February.

I think white tennis shoes are okay, but I wouldn't know for sure.

I wonder if we're going to get flamed for this too . . . haha.

This is a serious question and not a flame. I have a dress that is spaghetti straps and ankle length. It's dark pink and light pink and I wear a white sweater with it (to hide my lovely tattoo). I always wear my white sandals with it, but I hate them. I duno what other color would go with it tho!

LOL - I just put all my white shorts & skirts away earlier today, since I knew I wouldn't wear them this weekend. I did leave out one pair of white slacks, which I'll wear Sunday night.

This white after Labor Day thing,

How long after Labor Day are you not meant to wear white for? Months? What is Labor day historically?

I hope we do, I'm cold.

As long as the dresses are cute and sweet and precious, we should be okay.
