What I can't stand is thta damn elliptical machine. I have done that thing all of 2 times and that was because it was a day that I do the stationary bike and all of them were taken for my 10 mins, so that left me with the elliptical and I struggle thru it both times for 10 mins.

I'm the exact opposite- I have bad knees so I HATE the treadmill. I can get on an elliptical trainer and just go because it's much easier on my knees.

But I'd still rather be in a dance class for the most part.

I have bad knees too, but the treadmill doesn't bother me at all....I think I am the only person thta really and truly likes the treadmill. I see people on the elliptical all the time and they are on there for a nice length of time I like do the treadmill and I just can't see how they do it.

I can see where a dance class is good with toning, and a fun way to do it at that.

I like the treadmill. I can't walk though- its in me to run. I have been running since I was five, so everytime I try to walk I get an urge to run, lol. This is not good for me however, because I tore a few ligaments in my ankle last summer and they didn't heal exactly right, so running for more than 1.5-2 miles is out for me, :-( POOH! It works, like nothing else as far as losing weight and keeping it off. So now I am relegated to the elliptical (since I just can't walk on the treadmill) and it soooo aggravating b/c the weight just does't fall off the same as when I was running 3-4 miles a day.

THIS IS SO ANNOYING!!!

Okay, so I couldn't help it and I weighd myself yesterday. I have lost two more pounds since my last post! I am taking my scale to my moms house so that I wont be tempted to weigh myself.

I guess everyone is different because exhaustive cardio (i.e. running) didn't really do anything for me when I started. The only thing that worked was strength training- when I started that it changed my body drastically. The best thing though was when I did both- 2 days lifting, 3 days cardio along with a restricted diet did wonders. I am on path to get back to that now, but I'm just lazy, lol.

I'm not sure how different we are- when I initially lost my weight (20lbs from an 8/10 to a 4/6) I was working with a trainer and he had me lifting 2-3 times a week. The combination of lifting, high intensity cardio, and complete diet overhaul (moved to 6 small meals a day high protein low refined carbs) was MIRACULOUS I wasn't even really considered overweight, more borderline since I have a high muscle percentage, and I still lost 9 lbs the first month.

That's pretty much what I did to the letter- including the high protein, lo bad carb combo (lots of complex carbs and whole grains, less simple sugars). I didn't use a scale, so I don't know how many pounds I lost, but I had a six pack, so that worked for me.

I signed up at the Y earlier this month, but I have been on the road for work constantly, and just generally remain unmotivated for anything except my dance classes. I did make good changes to my diet- cut out juice/soda and am severely cutting back on snacks like chips and ice cream (helps that Ben and Jerry's isn't on sale anymore). Dinner is going to officially be the last meal of the night going forward as well- no more midnight snacking!

I am going to do better at the gym starting this week. I am just fortunate that because of all the muscle on me that I haven't blown up like a balloon! If I'm diligent then I can be back to my old good shape in a month or two.

ok so I started a little later than anticipated, but I did start! I went to the gym last night and it felt SO good!

I did 3 miles onthe crosstrainer and it felt great! I guess I was afraid that after staying out of the gym for so long I'd be out of shape, but it wasn't bad at all! I think I'll do weights tonight (lower body) and do more cardio tomorrow. Friday I will do upper body (I can do a great lower body workout at home, but I always feel like I get a better upper body workout on the machines at the gym).

Wink Checking In ...

Dear SFs and Sorors,

I haven't posted in a while but I thought I'd touch base:

At today's weigh-in I lost another 3.8. My WW total is 91.4 lbs lost and my overall total is 103.6.

On Friday, Sept. 15, I gave myself my 100-lb reward (a glamour makeover and photo shoot) one pound early. Will post when I receive.

Next stop ... Onederland ... and diamond earrings!

I started WW in April of 2005, and I started moving/"play dieting" on my own in July of the previous year (lost about 12).

I have no concept of "normal" ... I was 150 in the fifth grade some 20+ years ago (and back then the size 12 girls stood out); by the 12th grade I was over 200. I would like to get under 200 by the end of this year ... I'd like to get to 150-155 sometime next year and see how I like it, then make a decision on whether I want to lose any more.

You're doing it big, BabyBlue!!! I'm joining WW today after work, but since I posted last, I've lost eight pounds. I have monthly goals I'd like to meet. I'll keep y'all posted!
