delph, you are about to be my inspiration. Because when it cools off or if it is a rainy fall, I'll have to start driving to work. And that means I'll have to get up early to exercise. I am like Soror lovelyivy - I don't do early mornings. But I also realize these kids DRAIN me and exercising after work is never going to happen. Though I am contemplating working out with the basketball teams afterschool sometimes. See if I can push myself to keep up with these kids. LMAO, the thought truly cracks me up.

Where IS BB91????

Guess what I got? Guess what I got??? QUADS!!!!! Yes, I, Flabby Thighed Monique herself, has quadriceps!!! I can SEE them!!!!!! I see them best if I lay down and raise my legs in the air when I'm doing ab exercises. I was like, wait, is that, AW SHOOT!!! When I'm standing, it's harder to see cuz there is still fat covering them. But they are under there!!!! I'm tellin' you, it really is the little things.

Thanks Ideal.

I don't know where BB91 is? I need to email her.

Kudos to you on those quads. I used to have defined quads at one point, not any more. I'm currently doing the seated press at the gym to get them back.

You can do it girl. My weight hasn't moved all summer but guess what I did?

I used to drink 3-4 sodas a DAY. I'm down to only one and some days I don't even drink any! I drink water, water and more water. That's HUGE for me.

I also haven't had red meat or pork for weeks. I'm not giving it up just trying not to have it all the time.

Little changes like that keep me going...I just need to find my rhythm.
Once I do.... BAM!!!

I am interested in hearing of other success stories regarding this matter. I wonder does aerobics really help? Are there any herbs that we can use to help?

I am a water drinker myself (although I have a new addiction to coffee, lol) so go you!

I just discovered that I am anemic (due to a medical condition) so I am actively adding some red meat back into my diet. It's weird.

Well, I've officially been a vegetarian since Monday. So far, so good. I don't know if it's my new eating habits or what, but I'm down 4 pounds since last week! Woo Hoo!! It's about time! I've been hanging on to this same weight for weeks! As another bonus, my YMCA memberships is still active.... I'm going back on tomorrow. I think I'll be taking up a running program. Maybe Couch-to-5K. I think I might train for the Team in Training marathon in Walt Disney World in January. I want to jump start 2008!!

I also purchased a Brita water filtration pitcher. I need to drink more water and bottled water is starting to hurt my pockets. So, I'm gonna give the Brita a try.

9 more pounds to my first mini-goal!

Congrats on your lifestyle change. I like the Brita filter. I have the one that you affix to your faucet. I had the pitcher when I was in school....it's not bad either and it serves it's purpose.

I'm making it a priority to take better care of myself. I'm approaching 30, I want children one day and I have to get my health in order. My wake-up was when i got my results back from my cholesterol test. I thought I ate pretty healthy. My latest addiction has been sparkpeople.com. I like the fact that I can track my caloric intake, I can track how much water I'm drinking and everything. I've joined a couple of groups on there and I think it's made my journey a little bearable.

We have a waterclub at my job....so i get my 8-glasses of water in @ work. . I might drink a half or a bottle of water with my dinner. I also like Sam's choice bottled water and sometimes they have 2 cases for $5 and I think it's 12 or 16 bottles in a case.

I get a gym membership discount through my insurance...if any of you ladies have Blue Cross Blue Shield, i don't think it matters if it's HMO or PPO...check into I think it's called the HealthyStart program. Either way, it should be on the BCBS homepage. I pay $17/month for my gym membership. So i'm getting my hindparts in gear to lose this weight.

Psst....i've lost 8 lbs. thus far. I have 9 more to go before I hit my first mini-goal.

Thanks for the encouragement!! Six days down. So far, so good.

I just use SP for the discussion boards/teams these days. Since I'm not eating a bunch of the stuff that I used to eat, the numbers won't add up to what I need daily, but I may still give it a try. I can never seem to get an accurate sounding calculation of the calories I burn during workout. Some of the stuff that I do isn't even listed, so that ticks me off. I just use it for the comraderie.

Unhappy binge

I had a binge this weekend. A really, really bad one. I gained almost 10lbs. Seriously. Aunt Flo is on her way and I haven't learned to have power over her yet. She says eat, I eat, and then I can't stop. *sigh* I'm back in the 170's (176.5) and I'm not happy about it at all. I think after my visitor checks out, I'm doing FS again. I need to detox. I'm ashamed of how I did this weekend. And what was heaviest on my mind? How will I ever be married? I would never let anyone see me eat the way I did this weekend. But if you have someone who's always home, what can you do? It's not like you can plan a binge. The sad thing is I was down about it, when really, I should welcome something like that. Maybe that will help me stop doin' it. Cuz I'm not gonna eat the way I did this weekend if there are witnesses.

Who gains 8lbs in a week? Only me.

Angry annoyed

I just checked my pedometer and it didn't count all of my steps this morning! It's off by like 1500! I can tell today is not going to be a great day. It might as well be Monday.

Don't beat yourself up too bad Soror- we alll do that. I will not even TELL you what I ate this weekend, it was that bad. Suffice to say that my major food groups were rice, salt, potato chips, and cake.

It was really bad, lol.

but today is a brand new day and I haven't done anything that I can't undo with some work.

Ideal, girl you've come too far to beat yourself up over one week. What I've learned from you is that this [weight loss] is a process and there will be good days/weeks/months and bad days/weeks/months. Praise God that you didn't gain anything more. You're gonna drop that weight so quickly it won't make any sense. Remember we're in this together! You got this girl. And one more thing: you ARE going to get married. And he's going to love you for YOU. And if he's a good man (which he will be), he will encourage you through your doubt. Again, you got this girl!

Dear Soror,

Don't be too hard on yourself. Sometimes we are our own worst enemies.

I lost 11 pounds over this summer but it was tough. I had to count calories like a crazy person. Hang in there and you'll reach your goals.

And, as tough as it was/is, I had to learn to face some 'demons' to understand what was 'eating at me' so that I could stop 'eating' if you know what I mean.

It will be OK. My best advice to see a doctor so that he/she can recommend a healthy diet and nutrition regime for you.
