Eh, I wouldn't go that far.

I just don't believe on dismissing something without even trying it. My BF's very anti-Twitter, just as he was anti-Facebook until early this year. How can you think it sucks if you haven't even tried it and played around with it?

I signed up in late 2007 but didn't really get into it until December of last year because I didn't bother to follow people or look for people I knew.

I was at a college/university PR conference last week and basically all I learned is that Twitter is the communications wave of the future!

Hehehe...ok...I will give it a looksee later!

It took me this long before I got on facebook and in less than 3 months I already have almost 200 friends (all of these folks I know !) that span almost 30 years so why not one more social addiction?

This will be your fault.

Did you make sure you formatted the number correctly? I got that error when I first did it- I didn't have the number correctly done.

ETA: Why does twitter sound like another instant messenger software?
I was hesitant to try it at first as well; of course, I also waited until late 2006to try Facebook.

One of the best parts about Twitter is I can essentially get quick newsfeed. Between the posts from my friends, and the ones from news, sports and legal websites, I can get a snapshot of what's going on. The Blackberry application is solid as well, so I can do it all from my phone throughout the day.

Between Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter I think I'm able to stay on top of most things, which is great because of my crazy schedule.

Ok

It seems like my phone is not supported directly by twitter...so do you guys have any suggestions to 3rd party apps or alternative sites that will let me take a look at it on my phone?

Is it possible to keep people from "following" you? I just signed up for twitter and within the past 2 days I've had 5 people I've never heard of "following" me and that just makes me uneasy.

Go to your list of followers and click "block" which is right next to the button to follow that person.

I do it all the time.

OR you can go to your personal settings and set it to private so that only people that you approve can see your updates.
