There are chapters who had some major problems with this, but we just tell them to make sure you sacrifice the dove BEFORE the snake has a chance to get at it. The best way to do this is to make sure the snake is well fed before hand. Some have suggested adding a snake feeding into the ritual but I'm not so sure nationals is all for that.

Rumor has it that the Kappa's use blueberry.
We definitely do not use blueberry flavored jell-o and we definitely do not mix in blue food coloring into the whipped topping for the whip cream pillow fight (but don't get it on anything white, because it's a b*tch to get cleaned--the dry cleaners HATE the week after initiation.) Really, that's the true story behind the blue and blue of Kappa.

(But that's all after the supersecret disco dancing ritual--it was a huge RM issue with those blue and blue platforms!)

Did you use chicken or goat blood? I found that goat blood has a better consistency for drawing pentagrams, but chicken blood is a lot less messy!

see our problem is the other way around. we have the problem of the dove pecking the snake to death. now that's a real b*tch to clean up.

shelley j
sigma k

ps - we've actually thought about selling tix and taking bets to see how long it will take the dove to kill the snake.

Nu-uh! You told me that we can't talk about the part where we run around campus naked and covered in cheese, not about practicing with chicken blood!

Wink ;)

We always warn our initiates that when they go before the Great Lion, that they should lean "low and to the left."

This thread is hysterical!

LMAO @ this thread

We had to provide our own white catsuits (and you know how hard it is to find a white catsuit after Labor Day!), but the green feather boas come from nationals.

The chapter is responsible for procuring its own sheep and the green jello.

Um, I shouldn't'a said that...

On a more serious note, someone asked about cameras... they are a no-no until all ritual material has been put away.

1) Is the great lion house-trained?
2) Is it a lap cat?
