I am considering a third one, too! How about you all come out to Maryland, I'll put you up in my spare rooms, and we'll have a ladies day out. You know: shopping, lunch and the tattoo parlor!
This sounds heavenly!

I plan on getting my sorority flower -the daffodil tattooed on my ankle, with my letters in its leaves. Simple, yet sophisticated.

...it is especially associated with the Celtic tribes.

These symbols are called triskele or triskelion.

The Triskele is used to symbolize the cycles of life with in the three fold, or three spheres of influnce in the material world.
The three spheres (Land, Sea and Sky) represents the three aspects of the material world that are contained in every object. Each aspect ever flowing outward and always returning to the point from which it started.

I've also heard it represents the union between the past the present and the future...

Am thinking in a brown-amber color on my lower back 2-3inchess wide/up-down.

Thoughts?
My sister had a henna tattoo of a Celtic symbol that is slightly more ornate than the tattoo that you want. She kept saying that she wanted a tattoo, but she was afraid so henna was the best option for her. She didn't like it and washed it away. I say try the henna first. If you like it, you can always get a permanent tattoo. If you don't like it, no harm done.

BTW, are you Irish? I have not heard of anyone who isn't Irish getting a Celtic symbol tattoo. If you aren't, prepare yourself for people thinking you are. Not that the whole world will have access to your lower back.

Yes, I am Irish. Well half Irish, half French. My French last name means the sea, so I like that part of the symbol as well.

Was thinking I may try henna first, but then again, I may just jump in. My thinking is, lower back, its not like its right out there for me and everyone to see, so I think I would not regret it as I might one in a more obvious place...

Well.. I DID IT!!!!

Saturday was my birthday, so I decided that was as good a time as any to do it.

I LOVE IT! I am actually surprised how much I love it. Its about 2 1/4" X 2 1/4" on my lower back. I had them do it in a deep amber color.

I'll post pic soon.

So my question to all of you w tattoos--how long do I have to keep putting the ointment on it, and when will it stop stinging?

AmyCat...

Congrats on your tattoo. I put ointment on mine for about two weeks and I think it stopped stinging after a week (maybe shorter than that).

I am considering a second tattoo. My first one is a crescent moon with a cloud going through it. There are four little stars outlining the moon also. This one took about 1.5 hours, mainly because of all the detailing and the fact that the colors are really light. (They had to go over them several times before they would take into my skin.)

Anyway, if I get a second one, it's going to be two little dplphins swimming with each other on the top of my foot. My boyfriend made me a candle for my 21st bday with two dolphins playing and he just recently brought me home a dolphin statue thingy from Miami Beach. So, if I got this tattoo, it would be symbolic of our relationship together. And he's going to get a skull and crossbones on his left shoulder with his fraternity brother number beneath the crossbones. (This was my idea, and suddenly his entire fraternity is going to do the same.) I don't know when we are getting these tattoos, but I will keep you guys posted!

i know that i will be getting a tattoo this summer......aug. 21 will be the 3 yr anniversary of my friend luke's death, so i am getting the chinese symbol for "mourned loss"....i wanted to get one for him right after he passed, but my friend david convinced me to wait a while before permanantly marking myself. so, 3 yrs has gone by and i still want it, plus i have known this to be the one for around 2 yrs...so. my problem now is where to put it.......

kitso- love the tattoo.. i've said it before, but i'll definitely say it again: IT'S HOT!

amycat, congrats! beware of hot water on it in the shower.. wear the ointment religiously until the flakes of skin stop coming off.. a couple weeks usually... a little less sometimes.
