looks like I take the cake...

I got my seventh tattoo at Thanksgiving time.
Ffor as long as I can remember I have wanted a tattoo, so when I was 18 I called around town decided what shop to go to. I decided on a guy in town that has been tattooing for 25 or 30 years--and his wife helps him in their shop.
My tattoos are:
#1--Red rose on my hip (this was before I was an Alpha Gam)
#2-- small heart and vine on my right foot
#3-- butterfly added to the right foot
#4-- black tribal piece on my left ankle (by the tendon)
#5-- floral piece on my tailbone that goes hip to hip
#6-- small flower added to the right foot
#7-- butterfly and "star dust" above the floral on my back.

I will probably get more. I personally don't think they hurt--first time I was a bit scared--the sound of the gun got to me the first time. Now I cannot even go into the tattoo place without wanting one--the sound of the gun sparks the desire for another.

I have been to the same guy I started out with --with the exception of the ankle. I went to someone else--was not happy, waited for it to heal and went to my regular guy to have him "clean" the lines up.

My tattoo hurt like heck!!! I cried like a baby. My butterfly tattoo is HUGE. If I do get something related to my sorority, it is going to be VERY small! And no, no other tattoos for me!! It hurts way too much!!

Tatoo

I got my first tatoo last May. It is a teal and purple butterfly. I would love to get another one with my sorority letters but I don't think that my husband will be too thrilled with me...he was pretty mad about the first one. Oh well...life goes on.

Have a nice day

Mom found out about the new tattoo the other day. She was furious and we haven't spoken to each other for 3 days.

Anyways, I finally got a picture of my new tattoo online. If you scroll all the way to the bottom, you can see it here.

It looks small, but it really takes up a good portion of my lower back.

i think tattoos are cool and a form of self-expression. you just have to realize that its a permanent thing and make sure that you really want it. plus, it hurts like a pain i've never known before and you have to want the tattoo bad enough to sit through that.

i have four and plan to get at least one more.
1. i have a chinese symbol for "be different" on my upper back where my neck and back meet
2. i have the word "beautiful" in arabic on my lower back right above my butt. sometimes people see it when i bend over or raise my hand and my shirt lifts a little.
3. i have a broken heart on my right hip.
4. i did get my letters on my upper left thigh. i got it with a little kitty cat for my sorority and my line number.

my boyfriend decided that when we get engaged, we will both get the first letter of each other's name in hierogyphics. the first letter of his name is an M which i think it a bird in hieroglyphics. its very detailed so i am not looking forward to that pain.

I don't have a tattoo, and I don't want one. The tattoos that I have seen here are very pretty. I remember there was a story on the news about a guy from Notre Dame who wanted a Fighting Irish tattoo, but the tattoo artist spelled it "Fighing Irish" instead!
In college there was a fraternity brother who had his letters branded into his arm as a commitment to his fraternity! Ouch!

As many of you know I lost my close friend Wendy last year. She had three tatoos and was planning on getting another on her birthday that year. Instead, a bunch of us got the same tatoo in her honor. It is a curlyque w that goes into an f and has a little heart dotting it. It kind of looks like a little flower. It means Wendy, beloved friend. Mine is on the inside of my left ankle.

Before we lost Wendy I always said I'd never get a tatoo. I think it is something that you have to be prepared to have on your body for the rest of your life. Even though mine is in a place where people can barely see it I still have to cover it at work (my clients are on the older conservative side).

I know a lot of women who have tatoos of their GLO's letters or symbols. I think it is more popular in some places than in others. It's not something that has ever appealled to me but I can understand how it appeals to others.

Around here

Okay - I've waited long enough to post on this topic!

I have a tattoo, and while it's not of my letters (i think there's some rule about that somewhere) it's of the mascot - it's on my right hip - and unless i decide to show you, you're not going to see it - I've had it for almost a year, and even though i still live at home - my parents still do not know about it. The local fraterity here has somewhat of a tradition of getting their letters tattoo'ed on them somewhere along with thier mascot, but i really don't know of any of the national boys w/ tattoos. as for the girls - i can't believe how many of us have tattoos. it just goes to show it's not as taboo as is once was. I'm going to get two more probably, a star on my foot, right on top between my big toe, and my "pointer" toe (right were flip flops would cover it up) and maybe a scorpion (that one is still kinda iffy - i was going to get it instead of the one i have, and backed out at the last second.

just what's on my mind

I don't know if it was a national thing or a chapter thing, but the vast majority of FIJIs at my school had Phi Gamma Delta tattooed on their ankles. Back then, tattoos were much less common than they are now, even for guys so everyone thought they were really exotic! lol

A few of my sisters have tatoos of the five-point crown. One has it on her lower back, another on the back of her neck. Not sure where other people have them. I think it's a neat idea, but needles scare me!

What do you think would be a better tatto for the first one? A rattle snake or letters?
