My father made a special point to tell me this since I have been known to frequent this restaurant. Also, he had to rub it in. He hates the place.

Woman Sues Over Condom in Her Clam Chowder
Tue Nov 11, 8:16 AM ET Add Oddly Enough - Reuters to My Yahoo!
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Waiter, there is something worse than a fly in my soup.
A California woman who found a condom in her bowl of clam chowder has sued the upscale restaurant that served it to her -- saying she has suffered depression and anxiety from the shocking discovery.
But an attorney for McCormick & Schmicks Seafood Restaurant in Irvine, California, says the eatery has no idea how the condom got into Laila Sultan's food.
Sultan, 48, and her three companions are suing the restaurant for negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress in a case that is expected to go to trial early next year.
"I thought it was calamari or shrimp or something so I chewed one more," Sultan told local KCAL-TV on Monday. "It felt rubbery. I told my friends, 'My God, there's something in my mouth.'"
Sultan said she spit the offending object into a napkin and at first thought it was a latex glove. Then her friend realized what it was.
"I said, 'Oh, my God' and ran into the bathroom with another friend of mine and I started throwing up," she said. "I threw up everything I ate there, every single thing, I threw up in the bathroom." **LMAOLMAOLMAO**
But Patrick Stark, an attorney for McCormick & Schmicks, told the Los Angeles Times that its staff had no idea how the condom got into the chowder, adding: "It's as big a mystery to us as it is to anybody else."
"We are going to argue at trial there is absolutely no evidence to suggest the restaurant was the source of the condom," he told the paper. "Either it came from (the four women) or it was thrown in as a practical joke by another patron at the restaurant."

I don't send my food back if it is not what I want unless I know that I don't want anything else (if I send it back, I sit at the table without any food). People are disgusting and horrible and nasty and though this is gross, it doesn't surprise me.

Though a little bit different, my HS Home Ec teacher told us how her daughter and her best friend ( both African American) went to a pizzeria in a mostly white neighberhood. The waitress first put ice in their glasses with her hand. Then she basically threw their pizza onto the table. They decided to leave and asked to have their pizza wrapped up to take home and she dropped it on the kitchen floor and they could see what occurred from where they were seated. She brought it back to them and there was all kind of gunk on top of the pizza from the fall. The manager really didn't do anything about it so they just smeared the pizza all over the counter and threw it at the waitress. I know they shouldn't have because being fools is what the waitress thought of them anyway, but when a sister gets PO'd, God help the person that did it to them.

Man's Finger Stuck in Pay Phone for Hours
Email this Story
Nov 18, 10:53 AM (ET)
EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) - A man and a pay phone were rushed to a hospital after he got his finger stuck in the coin return slot while trying to retrieve his 50 cents.
Emergency room doctors gave Emanuel Fleming a painkiller Monday and pried his middle finger loose using a wooden device and lubricant, ending the three-hour ordeal.
"The bone in my finger felt like it was going to break. My finger was numb. It was very painful," said Fleming, an elementary school janitor.
Fleming had tried to call his wife, but the line was busy. Two passers-by tried to help. When they failed to free him, Fleming used his other hand to dial 911.

Girl, you'll be surprised. Pay phones are a big business here in NYC, b/c there are times when we can't use our cell phones, like underground in the subway stations. If there's an emergency, then we would have to plunk 50 cents into the phones. Thank God I have my cell phone though.

Verizon (our telephone company in NYC) now has it where the use of a pay phone is 50 cents, but you can talk as long as you want to, instead of having to hear some annoying person asking you to "please deposit 10 cents for the next two minutes or you call will be disconnected, this is a recording." LOL

East St. Louis is one of the poorest places here in Illinois so he may not have been able to afford a cell phone. The sad part is that someone had to suggest to him to call 911. The paramedics couldn't help and neither could the fire Department. The telephone company came and cut the phone off of it's stand and they took him to the hospital then. So many people came by not to lend a hand but to look and laugh. Poor guy, I think it was raining too.

Don't forget 9/11 and the blackout last summer. My cell phone didn't work at all on those days.

Beer vendor charged for refilling used cups at NFL game
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A concessions worker filled used plastic cups with beer and resold them at a Tampa Bay Buccaneers game, pocketing $1,080 in unreported sales, police said.
John Angelus Keene, 68, was charged with felony grand theft, said Tampa police Detective Bill Todd.
Todd said he observed Keene picking up used cups from tables and refilling them without rinsing them at a Bud Light booth during Sunday's game at Raymond James Stadium.
"I've never seen anything like it," said Todd, who works stadium security at Buccaneers games. "Naturally, you think of health issues."
Keene was a volunteer with a military retiree group manning the booth, but Todd did not know the exact name of the group. Aramark Inc., the Philadelphia foodservice company that provides the stadium's concessions, declined to release the name of the organization.
Keene told police he planned to turn in the cash, but detectives found he had already signed a voucher for the day's sales, Todd said.
Keene was released from jail on $2,000 bail Monday, and could not be reached for comment Tuesday. It could not immediately be determined whether Keene had an attorney.

Ill. That's disgusting but he ain't care. Maybe he wouldn't have been doing that if he had learned a skill in the military that made him a little more employable.

Boy Sold to Restaurant as Dog Meat
Mon Nov 24, 9:57 AM ET Add Oddly Enough - Reuters to My Yahoo!
HANOI (Reuters) - Vietnamese drug addicts kidnapped a mute teenager, bundled him in a sack and sold him to a dog-meat eatery as a stray canine, state media said on Saturday.
The Gia Dinh Xa Hoi (Family and Society) newspaper said the two addicts grabbed the homeless 13-year-old from a busy market in Halong city.
Halong, around 90 miles from the capital, Hanoi, attracts hordes of tourists to its spectacular bay and rock formations, a United Nations (news - web sites) heritage site.
The kidnappers tied up the boy, bundled him into a sack and sold him to the restaurant for $19, the newspaper said.
The restaurateur, shocked to find the boy, fed him and released him.
Police were investigating the case but had made no arrests, said the newspaper, mouthpiece of the state Population, Family and Children Committee.
Dog meat is a delicacy in parts of China and in some other Asian countries such as Korea, Cambodia, Indonesia and Laos. In Vietnam, eating specifically farmed breeds is believed to bring health benefits and is seen as auspicious.
Early in November, Thai police rescued more than 800 dogs from smugglers who were taking the animals to Vietnam to sell for meat.

Would it have made a difference if he had rinsed them? It's still unsanitary!
