The Sorority Life

NPC has launched a new web site to educate young women about sorority life. The first phase has just been released. Two more sites and additional componants, including interactive capabilities, are scheduled for release as well.

VERY nice. I like the fact that the lists of well-known or remarkable sorority women just lists them without their specific GLO.

I agree, except I don't like that they don't list all of them. For example, they don't have listed Kimberly Williams(-Paisley) who is an Alpha Phi.

ETA: I didn't even know some of those women went to college.

They also do not list Kate Snow, who is the weekend anchor of Good Morning America and also does work for regular GMA and the ABC nightly news. Yet, they list several local/affiliate TV anchors. Strange.

I do like the site and the concepts they are working to portray.

I don't think a list of all successful sorority women would be feasible. There are just too many!

what she said
I also like that they named it The Sorority Life, instead of "sorority life"

I think I like it. It just kind of introduces girls to the idea without totally overwhelming them with info. This is good for girls who may still be in HS but are just hearing about sororities. I would like to see a section telling girls what the next step is if they decide that they're interested in sorority life (who to contact at school, how to register, etc). I'm sure that's all in the works though.

If you have a question about a famous person's Chi Omega affiliation, why don't you call HQ in Memphis and ask? I saw it on the FSU website and believe she is a member, but obviously have no concrete proof other than that listing.

Because I don't care enough - although I found the ladies at Chi Omega HQ to be wonderful during my visit and the installation of the memorial brick for my mil, I really don't want to waste their time with this.

So, barring confirmation from HQ (via the website, which we've established is not forth coming) I'm saying Cybill Shepherd is no more a Chi Omega than Reese Witherspoon is a Gamma Phi (she too is listed on many chapter websites, but not the international website.)If you want to argue that she is, I'd say the burden of proof is on you. Call HQ and find out.

This was certainly not directed at you...I was responding to some of the other posters that seemed to want to argue over a web site. I shouldn't reply to message boards so early in the morning.
I used to like to watch Moonlighting years ago, but like you, I don't care what, if any, greek affiliation most famous people are.

Fair enough - sorry if I came off as snarky. We've just had so many "OMG DID YOU KNOW ____________ is an ABC???!!!" posts, based purely on chapter websites (which are very often simply wrong) that I fear I have become somewhat peeved at the topic.

If an alumna is famous, odds are the official website will list her. As I've said before, I'm more impressed by the unknown alumnae who give to their families, schools and communities on a day to day basis than any alumna who just happens to be well-known.
