Misunderstood again but last time I will comment on it...

The thing is, I don't think it's the job of AXD's alums to make NBO's dreams become reality.

I didn't say that...here's what I said (my emphasis added):

I'm just suggesting other ways to try and help NBO's quest become a reality

Corina's right -- it is not good to disagree and get all worked up about this -- so no more "helpful" suggestions from me...
Que sera sera.....

Sorry to stress you out, Corina! Don't worry, the Lt Colonel and I won't take pistols out back for a duel.

Ok, i haven't posted in this forum in a while, but these last couple of pages have sort of irked me. i fully support FuzzieAlum in all her posts and points. But, I would like to remind everyone that NBO is a great chapter, and insted of telling the AXiD's that its "there job as alums to get out there and help them become a chapter"- i don't need other greeks defining my role as an Alpha Xi Delta Alum. Also, if ya'll so interested in NBO and are not happy with AXiD not colonizing them this year, write your own nationals and tell them about NBO.
sorry to sound a little harsh, but these are my letters getting thrown around here!

To any Alpha Xi Delta sisters who are somehow offended by my post, my apologies. I don't think it's YOUR job to do anything. Obviously I would not doubt your HQs decisions, because honestly, I don't know them from Adam, nor do I know any of you here personally. I thought if you WANTED to support NBO, as alums, you may be able to help them. If you're satisfied with the course of events, GREAT! I made a suggestion that was slightly overzealous....sorry, I am certainly planning to edit it as soon as I'm finished here.
Fuzzie, honestly, if you told me you knew a great girl going through recruitment, I would certainly tell my chapter to look out for her, because by reading your posts here, I think you would be able to recommend quality women worth taking a look at. maggie, I would honestly have no problem with advising my own IHQ to take a look at what NBO has to offer our organization, and it would be in their hands to do so if they chose to. It was not my intention to tell you what to do, but to say if you DID support NBO, maybe you could help gather up alums in the area.
Corina, my sincerest apologies for making you feel uncomfortable at all. I have nothing but admiration for you and your efforts to affiliate with an NPC group, and I hope that dream will happen for all of you, no matter WHAT group may be.

I'm not uncomfortable, I just don't want people to be fighting over something that really isn't worth fighting for. That being said, I'm sortof in awe of the fact that I'm a part of something people respond so passionately (and sometimes vehemently to) Anyway, no more news here, we're trying to plan rush and get our t shirt situation worked out. More later.

Dear Corina,
I would like to say that I am sufficiently impressed by all you've accomplished that I wish it were Delta Zeta you were working with so that I could send an endorsement to my National.
You are an INCREDIBLE, HARDWORKING and DRIVEN young woman who will go far in life. It's astounding to me how much you've taken on and how hard you've worked.
I can honestly say that I personally would be proud to call you my sister
Best Regards,
Tracy

Corina,
Why in Heaven's name would you put ALL your eggs and everyone else's hopes in dreams in one basket?
You owe yourself, your followers, and your legacy more than that.
If I had taken that same approach I would never have established a chapter!

You have options
Corina,
I totally agree with James! You have done so much, and you should not limit your options so early in the game -- continue to write to groups.
For example, you should also look into and write to non-NPC sororities! You may be surprised and pleased at what you find. Going with a non-NPC sorority would enable you to go national and have the support and sisterhood that your group wants -- all before the founders of your group graduate!
There are several non-NPC sororities out there who may be very happy to accept you as a colony. Both Kappa Beta Gamma and multi-cultural sororities, like Theta Nu Xi, have sisters who post on greekchat. By searching on the internet, you can also come up with at least a dozen or more non-NPC sororities that are general, multi-cultural based, religious based, etc.
Remember, looking for a national group is like job hunting... there may be rejection letters, but if you keep interviewing and networking you will find what you are looking for!

Corina has chosen to court one group at a time . . . And she has taken a "maybe" as more of a promise than it is.
It may be in her best interest to be maintaining a dialogue with several Nationals at one time. I am sure the girls on here would love to help out.
In your case Corina, you have a very limited time threshold. You are an undergrad and you have undergrad followers.
At the very least you need a national that will meet you half way and say: If you fill this number requirement we will colonize you.
And we will have some respectable looking alums in the area be available for you to introduce perspective new members.
The prescence of National "representatives" will go a great way to getting you recruits. IT allows you to create momentum. Plus the end of the semester is coming up rapidly. If Whatever sorority said "Sure we will do it," in the third week in April you would be hard pressed to accomplish your goals.
Maybe without definite conditions put forth ina binding letter is actually NO.
They have said NO to you, just very politely.

I think I agree with James on this one...
Why not continue to dialogue with other NPC groups?

I don't know that y'all are quite following with the train of thought that NBO has been on. Alpha Xi Delta put forth suggestions for what we need to do, yes. And they didn't give us a definite yes or no either way, which has been frustrating. But we haven't just been sitting around assuming that we'll colonize with AZD so we don't have to worry about things anymore. Trying to colonize is a long, brutal process. It involves writing persuasive letters and hoping that something works out. It's also something that involves a whole lot of team morale, which we as a sorority are struggling with a bit right now. So to dive right back into the NPC pool is a bit overwhelming. Besides, we really like AZD. We aren't looking to colonize just so we can colonize- we felt a good connection with what AZD represented and we would feel very proud to be members. It's kindof like....when you go to a bunch of houses during rush, and one them feels like it just fit so well. You wouldn't necessarily want to give up on that just because the road wasn't smooth. And I have enough respect for the AZD headquarters to assume that, if they had absolutely no interest in colonizing us and their response was definitely no, they would tell us that. All this being said, we are beginning to look into some other organizations. Some of the other orgs that we felt we clicked with told us that, at that point, it wasn't a good time for them to colonize. But we've made some progress since then, and maybe situations will have changed. Plus we've looked into a couple groups we hadn't contacted before, so maybe we'll find another match. Hopefully after this next rush we'll be in more of a mindset to work on this more. Altogether I think things are going well- we're making flyers and t shirts, and we have two wonderful girls who we're having such a good time getting to know. Plus, we let go of one member who just didn't have her heart in things, and I feel that as a group we are more positive and motivated without her. I feel mean saying that but it's the truth, and she made the decision to leave on her own. So it's for the best. I'm rambling now, tired and should go to bed.

corina,
i think you are doing a great job!!! with that being said, i am also glad to hear that you are looking into other groups. i think you have come a long way and i am glad to hear that things are going well. it is hard when you put all of your eggs in one basket. i wouldn't necessarily rule out axid, but keep your eyes and hearts open. best of luck! just know that we are all behind you!!!

My update:
Working on the t shirts, but the design that greek101 posted isn't quite what we ordered, so I'm a little stressed about getting them in time. I've been looking at the websites of a bunch of different organizations, and I really feel like we still have options. I'm very attatched to AZD still, but I understand that if things don't work out then it wasn't meant to be. My sisters are feeling just about how I am, so I'm glad we're all on the same page. We've been feeling much less stressed now that we've dealt with the one member who wasn't devoting herself to NBO the way she needed. Does anyone know of a website where people can enter their schedules onto a calender? I'd like to find a place where we all can go online, enter our weekly info, and then be able to see everyone's info in one place. Something online would make it a whole lot easier for us to plan meeting times and whatnot. I've been looking around but I haven't had a whole lot of luck. Something I need to think about: my account coordinator at Clinique wants to organize this big makeover event for all the sororities at my school. We have a gift with purchase starting April 1st, so she wants to capitalize on a huge group of women. She was a Sigma Kappa, so she would always sell to her sisters. Anyway, I'm kinda wierded out by the idea of having to do makeovers on a huge group of girls from my school....I guess because many of the sororities on our campus don't seem to have a whole lot of respect for us, and I don't really care to be in a subordinate position to a whole group of them. But I'm probably making a big deal out of nothing. Sorry, my thoughts are jumping all over the place, it's been one of those days. We've really been looking into some of the smaller NPC orgs. I would like to look at nationl non-NPC groups, but I don't really know of a whole bunch of them. Anyone have any websites I can check out? More later, comments please!
