If I hadn't already been impressed from the efforts of Nu Beta Omicron, I certainly would be now. What an amazing service record. Wouldn't it be great if every GLO, social or not, would put this strong of an effort into philanthropy?!!

Good luck--I can't wait to see what happens next for NBO!

Fraternally,
Christin

Thumbs up Go Go Go! NBO!!

NU BETA OMICRON IS AWESOME!

HOW CAN ALPHA XI DELTA RESIST Y'ALL?! YOU HAVE DONE FABULOUS WORK!

I THINK ALL THE AXiD'S ON GC NEED TO WRITE LETTERS AND SEND EMAILS TO THEIR HQTRS SAYING:

"WE WANT NBO! WE WANT NBO!"

I agree with GPhiBLtColonel, the Alpha Xi's should consider contacting HQ's and letting them know of our support for NBO. Corina, please send me a PM with some info and who you are dealing with at HQ's. Thanks.

Mindy

BUMP, BUMP!!!

Okay, I found this thread at work last night (yeah, I was bored), but can I say that I have read the ENTIRE thread!!!!

Corina, I think you are one of the most determined, motivated, etc, etc people I have "met" in a while. I am ENTHRALLED with your progress thus far, and I am rooting for you also. You are such an inspiration! I hope that you know that you have more people that you DON'T know rooting for you, probably that you DO know! Keep up the good/hard work and don't let it get you down. Take time to breathe!

Corina here...I've got to figure out this whole logging out another user thing someday. Anyway, I wanted to share this reply that I got from AZD:

Dear Corina,

Thank you very much for the update! I have forwarded your message to
Sara Nash, our Executive Director, so that she can share your progress
with our National Council.

I appreciate the time and effort that went into this message. How
inspiring it is to visit the successes you've enjoyed! I suggest that
you make this a regular practice with the sisters of Nu Beta Omicron -
to stop a minute and reflect on your successes so that they will provide
you with the encouragement you need to realize your potential.

Corina, thank you again for your message. Please do not hesitate to
contact me if I can be of further assistance.

Fraternally,
Marissa

So that's good right?

Corina

I said it before and I will say it again...

...all AXiD's on Greekchat need to write your Executive Director with letters urging them to colonize NBO and I think if there is an AXiD alum (or alums) who lives near UCSC, she (they) should actually meet up with Corina and NBO to personally observe them doing some philanthropy, social or whatever and then write to the Executive Director saying, "I have personally met the women of NBO and observed them doing -- whatever -- and I would be PROUD to call them my sisters. etc etc etc! I strongly encourage AXiD colonization of NBO at UCSC etc etc etc "

Ladies -- y'all can make this happen for that awesome group of women called NU BETA OMICRON!!

Keep us posted! I feel like the finish line may finally be in sight!

I agree with GPhiBLt. If you think that NBO would be good for your sisterhood, finding support for them through your international organization in their area could help their cause. Corina, I still say you're doing a fabulous job!!

Hm ...

I have a very high opinion of NBO, and I would be pleased if they someday became a chapter of AXD, but -

If you're not an AXD, I don't really think you should be telling us what our responsibilities are. What if I said, "I know this great girl going through informal - D Phi E, you had better give her a bid - I don't know how you could have cut her in formal"? Or, "Gamma Phi Beta, you must present to colonize this local"?

There are already many Alpha Xis who are supportive of NBO, but honestly, I think this process is becoming a little too public for my comfort. Really, the only ones who have any say in it are Alpha Xi Delta and Nu Beta Omicron, and while I know the rest of ya'll are just trying to support these terrific women, it places the AXDs on here in a hard position. If we say, "Well, our nationals should be rushing down there with a charter - bad nationals" that doesn't sound good - and if we say, "Well, I'm sure there's a good reason NBO isn't an AXD chapter now - bad NBO" - that doesn't sound good either.

Red face Y'all seem to have misunderstood me...

...I am not saying AXiD is bad nor am I saying NBO must be bad because they are still local and not a new colony/chapter of AXiD. I am sorry it was interpreted that way.

I'm just suggesting other ways to try and help NBO's quest become a reality IF the support for NBO is as strong as it seems to be here on GreekChat, esp amongst AXiD's. No bad guys are implied.

Here's a Tongue-in-cheek comment not meant to rile anyone up but -- Just in case any of y'all have forgotten the original "bad guy" in this very long UCSC thread -- it was my sorority -- Gamma Phi Beta -- that cut Corina and caused her to start NBO...now you know the rest of the story.

The thing is, I don't think it's the job of AXD's alums to make NBO's dreams become reality. That's NBO's job.

What bothers me is the suggestion that we ought to

Quote:
write your Executive Director with letters urging them to colonize NBO
Personally, I trust FHQ to make the decision whether to colonize (and if so when) - they probably have a lot more knowledge about NBO than I do. All I know is from GC; they've visited and talked with the women. And it's not like they aren't aware of this thread; they know of the support for NBO.

*edited because I got interrupted in the middle!

Corina here. I don't think anyone needs to be stressing about this as much as we all are. I do appreciate the support from everyone on greekchat, as well as all of the assistance that we've gotten from AXiD national headquarters. If people on greekchat feel compelled to write in with their support, I am SO appreciative of that. But if you feel like that would be overstepping boundaries that you don't feel should be crossed, I completely understand that also. I don't think there's any bad guys- not even Gamma Phi Beta I guess I'm holding the general opinion that, if AXiD doesn't want to colonize us after all of the hard work that we've put in, and all of the accomplishments that we've had, then it wasn't meant to be in the first place. Regardless of whether or not we become a chapter, AXiD has helped us to grow and develop into something more than we ever thought we could be. I hope that smoothes things over some- I get stressed by people disagreeing over stuff like this!

Corina
