Such is the case with the AXiD chapters she listed. If an alumnae from Northridge now lives in/near Santa Cruz....I rreeeaallllyy doubt she's going to want to make the mega 10-hour drive to help out with recruitment.
In my opinion, five chapters for the whole state of California isn't that many. The only two that are relatively "near" UCSC are the Stanislas and Sonoma State chapters.
