Unfortunately because I'm in HR, I don't wear much nalia to work, nor can I use it to decorate my office. I don't someone to come into my office during an interview from XYZ sorority and cause me problems if they don't get the job. I have heard people say that this person didn't give them a chance because they in were ABC or HIJ org.

I work in in a very "comfortable office", jeans sneakers, flip flops. I am the only AA minority in the office and we staff two floors, So like Soror mentioned, I am there only insight to BGLO. I try to break it down for them because they ask so many questions and I don't want them out there being rude and clueless(I like my coworkers)
BUT....I had to go off just last week. I had on one of my jackets because it was cold outside, it was folded over my chair so they wouldn't get started. I went to go to the copier and one of those"frat boys" was attempting to put it over his sholders so that everyone else could read it.
When I walked out of that kichen and saw what was going on I almost freaked out, but instead in the nicest way that I could I explained to them how that was not the thing to do. I was on fire!Boy they could have got it that day over that!

I work in a casual office and there are several BGLO's represented in my office. So I do wear my para on Friday when everyone else does.

I'dda dug in that azz cause he's greek as well. Last year when my mother come from the Caribbean for my graduation, she grabbed my jacket from the closet as we were heading to the store. She doesn't understand the whole notion of BGLOs so I just simply handed her another jacket and told her it would fit better. She meant no harm so there was no need to get upset.

Soror, there seems to be a different set of rules, if youknow what I am saying. There are several threads in the Grrek Life forum that clearly demonstrate the difference in rules, protocol and practices.

Soror I had a similar incident happen with my mother except it was a t-shirt and she sure was about to wear it to the laundromat . There was one time when I left a box of new elephants at her house for an extended period of time and lets just say they quickly became stocking stuffers for family members! I'm happy to say these incidents happened some time ago and although my mom still doesn't quite understand what's so special about my Sorority she does respect that it is special to me .

Re: Too Funny and too familiar...

LOL. It's not funny and funny at the same time. I laugh at it now, but at the time I was mortified, thinking about Momma-Bajan up in Walmart sporting my letters.

Regional differences?

My chapter is extremely cautious as to when and where we wear our "official paraphrenalia" vs. other times. Like it is a "touchy subject" with them...

But since I am on a college campus, I represent... So since I am a professional, I just sport the combination of colors... In my mind, folks ought to know that I exude the confidence in my Sorority...

Other than that, I mostly wear pink because from those "dayz" we had YET to wear pink... It was too HOT for us... So almost all clothing items happen to be pink... Although for this season, light green seems to be very popular...

I work in a pretty casual work environment (so comfortable that one worker actually wore "footies!"))
I wear my Para all of the time as do some of the other greeks here. I also have a SIGMA GAMMA RHO banner on my office wall. My Sorors get a kick out of it when they come into my office and I get a lot of that, "My so and so is a SGRHO!"

I work on a College campus so wearing paraphernalia is ones on choice. I wear paraphernalia some times when there are events on the campus. Now in my office I do represent well you can see that I Love my Sorority.

Good for you. I love wearing paraphernalia at work (when I can)! But who are you?

If you're a soror--introduce yourself here: http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...threadid=19197

We'd love to know more!

I have AKA items in my office area and have worn lapel pins and a t-shirt to work. I am in the Federal Gov't so things are laid back but it does depend on your office.

I think my co-workers are tired of seeing me in pink. They think it's cute though. However, since I work on a campus as well, I get to wear paraphernalia at my leisure. I try to keep it classy. The students are always so confused. Now my office.....frogs...pink and green galore. People always know when I send out flyers b/c of the colors.
