I have to wear something tomorrow. The flag here will be drawn at half-staff on Tomorrow in honor or Rosa Parks.

Paraphernalia on the job
I think it depends on the company's culture. If the dress code is laid back then yes, I think it's o.k. to wear your nalia. Otherwise, if one is not sure, to play it safe, don't wear it!

The VP of the call center in which I work for is a Soul Stepping Sister of AKA. On Delta's founders' day, a co-worker came in with her DST shirt one. The VP and I giggled, and she jokingly said, "Not in my call center she won't." I feel there is also nothing wrong with wearing the apparel as long as it fits the dress code. Although, I have never seen her wear any apparel on the job. I feel she doesn't need to. You can tell she's an Alpha woman by the way she carries herself. It's just her whole demeanor. So much style, class, and grace. Her mere essence will light up the place.

to my surprise
Sorry for raising an old thread . .
But let me set the stage . . .
I'm comming out of the rest room in my dorm, and I notice that the kind cleaning lady was on the other side of the door. I politely step to the side as she opens the door. As she comes closer to me, I see that she is wearing a pink and green tee-shirt. On the shirt, the letters of Alpha Kappa Alpha, the shield, and a woman on a throne were boldly printed the shrit.
I smiled and said "Ms. ___ I didn't know you were a member of a sorority" and she in turn replied "Oh naw baby, someone just let me borrow this"
Needless to say I was like . I was soooo surprised and thought to myself "is that even possible . . she just borrowed that shirt" . Personally, I would never think to were a shirt like that if I am not an official member, especially to clean in
Again, sorry for raising an old thread, but I wanted to share this

OMG!!! A boiling hot, steamy mess. I wonder if she borrowed it without telling the person she borrowed it from. Hmmm!?!?

More like it was donated to her! Sorors be very careful with what you do with your paraphernalia!

My job too is very laid back. I teach at a private middle school for boys so pretty much I can dress casually but not always. I usually carry an AKA bag.
Once I wore a pink polo and a Stop Hazing pin. Usually my kids don't notice my pins but this time they did. It was a perfect opportunity to discuss hazing and I was thrilled to.
When I find that AKA teacher shirt, I'm going to wear that to work.

Great question - nope - never (law clerk for a fed. judge). I do however have an AKA coffee mug, umbrella and pen set (very nice too - engraved and everything). It is so funny b/c my judge is in a fraternity (clear) and I was writing with my AKA pen one day, and he said, that is a mighty fancy pen!! lol!!

Soror, when you attend your Regional Conference, they normally have shirts that say - AKA teacher. I am trying to find one that says AKA lawyer . . . tough find though.

I have seen both in the Delta variety so I am sure that there are AKA and other org shirts as well. If I find out the vendor of those polos, I will post it.

I know I saw magnets that said AKA teacher, lawyer, social worker, etc. @ Regional Conference. I'm not sure if I saw the t-shirts - so much para to look at, lol.

I work for a university and we can dress casual on Friday's. The UG Sorors stays in my office. I do wear nalia at work. I see nothing wrong with a person wearing nalia at work at all. But everyone has their own take on that.
