I'm a DU = Delta Upsilon. Most people can't pronounce Upsilon anyway... we pronounce it yoop-si-lon.

Is the correct pronunciation "yoop-si-lon" or "oop-si-lon"? I've always pronounced it oop.

AOII has already been covered but my husband is a Pi Kappa Phi. They go by Pi Kapps but at schools without Pi Kappa Alpha chapters they are also known as Pikes.

Here's a funny that my husband doesn't find amusing at all. When they first colonized no one could get "Pi Kapp" so they just said the whole name. When people were still confused they said, "You know, the boy Pi Phis." LMAO everytime.

The letter Omega is the Greek equivalent of the English letter Q. Omicron is the equivalent of O.

Wow, that's news to me! Omega is a long "o" is the Greek language, pronounced like "shoulder." Greek doesn't have a "q"--closest thing to it would be kappa.

We have one of those ancient dictionaries with the alphabets from many lands in it, and I could swear it said Omega = Q! Oh well, maybe I am still feeling the aftereffects of the weekend!!

Hi 33! Yeah, sometimes those books aren't the most reliable. I'm only working off the Greek I learned at home & in Greek school. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not.

Kappa Sigma Fraternity = KapSig, Kappa Sigs, KS house, sometimes "skull house" if there's no PhiKS house there (we have a skull on our badge, as well), but i think that's sort of a dumb nick.

I'm an Alpha Chi Omega. I've heard some people use "A-Chi-O"...which I DISLIKE GREATLY! There's already a Chi-O...most people in the know say "Alpha Chi".
