Aah, no, shakes. That's not OK. If I ever saw a 25-year-old with a future AKA shirt, I would gently tell her to remove it.

Why are you so worked up about this? The same way you've seen her with this stuff I'm sure members have also. The world is too small....let them handle their business...no need for you to black out at work (and lose your job/reputation) for something you can't change.

I'm going to co sign on this one. You gave her some advice...she didn't take her. Oh well. She'll learn the hard way but as a non member it's not your place to check her the way your saying you're going to check her. Let it go and let the Delta's handle their business.

You say this lady is 25 years of age and is doing this? Definitely guide her to the nearest soror at you alls place of employment.
I'd love to be that soror on that day!

For real though, while at a stepshow about 3 months ago, a lady came up to me and wanted to buy a Delta Sigma Theta tee-shirt. I was like sure, what size do ya need. She proceeded to say well go ahead a give me an xl, I then said "Soror, btw where are you from?" She said "what do you mean, where?" I was then wondering about her status in the sorority. She then said she wanted to be a delta when she gets to juco. I then informed her that you don't wear the para for a NPHC black greek organization under any circumstances unless you ARE a member. She was totally shocked that she couldn't buy it AND wear it, since she did want to BE a delta. I didn't have too much time to explain it all to her, but at least she now knows. I just couldn't believe that she didn't realize this without my .13 cent. Needless to say, I never sold that tee-shirt that day.

Blackerican, let me start by saying thanks for your concern for our organization....now let me give you some advise as a member to an interest...DST is 200,000+ strong, so as someone advised you earlier let someone who is a member of DST handle that situation. At 28 I would have to probably think a moment before geting into an altercation over my letters or some wannabe perp (just a brief moment though ). Your loyalty to Delta is well taken but I don't understand trying to protect something that doesn't belong to you. As an interest I would be more concerned with at all times displaying the charasteristics of a lady(ya never know whose watchin)....which always includes class. If your co-worker is "off da chain" like you say, she'll get hers in time.

Thumbs up

I agree with my Sorors and SFs.

Blackerican, it can be disheartening and aggravating to see someone have a warehouse of DST goodies, yet not possess a membership in DST. I am sure you know a member of DST in your area or even at your place of employment. If you feel so strongly about the situation, present it to a member in the area who can at least know her name.

Otherwise, you just have to let IT go.

Talking Thank you!!!

I just want to thank all of the people who responded to my post. I'm going to take the advice and seek out a member of the organization and bring it to their attention!!!! As stated in other post, it makes me sick to see her doing this. However, I will not bring myself down to her level...cuz' you never know who's watching!!!!

It really bothers me that people think they can just put letters on anything and sell it. I mean I guess that's the way of free market societies, but at least make it look hot or something. Do I really want to pay double the regular price for a bottle opener just because it has letters? No. Do some people? Yes. It just seems tacky to me.

Unknowing

So I work in a building where the cleaning crew is majority Hispanic and not to mention that I work for a Hispanic non-profit organiztion (the only one in the US). As I was leaving the office, a member of the cleaning crew was entering the office. He had on a t-shirt that looked too familar to me. I felt a bit of a deja vou (ms) and walked towards him to get a beter look.
He looked my way, giving me a frontal view of the t-shirt. And sure enough the shirt had letters of another BGLO sorority . it took all I had to hold in my laugh, because I knew he was wearing a female item and second because he had no idea what it was.

I proceeded to tell him, in my limited Spanish, that what he had on was for females and he informed me, in his limited English, that he had gotten it as a gift from a friend, who had gotten it from a 2nd hand store. I tried to explain to him that those shirt with big letters that look odd were for certian ladies and not everyone could wear it.

I don't think he understood, but the next day I saw him again and he didn't have it on. He told me that he gave it to a cousin of his.

Moral of the story: All BGLO, please, please, either cut up your old para, give them back to your Headquarters or other members. We don't want this happening

So True

My sentiments exactly Treblk. It is hard when you have to pay a pretty penny to get a t-shirt from a homeles man. Nevertheless, I hope it went to a good cause .

Thumbs down That nasty thong on eBay

There's a site that actually makes these repulsive things.

They're customized, so any sorority could be done, regardless of governing board...

yOU SAID IT! I have seen the tackiest, trashiest, unbelievable items in org colors or with symbols that are for sale. WE must be choosy about what we buy to represent our org; if we don't buy it, they can't sell it.
