This thread reminds of the Friends episode where Freddie Prince Jr. plays the nanny. And how it really weirded Ross out. It was pretty funny.

I love these guys - the last two boyfriends have been perfect examples of that. If y'all don't want them, send them to me!

I didn't say THAT, GeekyPenguin
Hey, I'll take 'em, but I wanna rough him up some.
I've never been into burly men, but I don't want a wannabe Manolo Blahnik either!

sigmagrrl, I'm with you, I want to be the prettier sex!!
I dated a guy once like that...hated it... *icks* drove me nuts...
TKE209 however...the only time he gets upset over his appearance is when he's covered head to toe in grease and wants to go eat someplace decent...heh.

Metrosexuals are hot as hell, but they don't make good partner material. They're a lot of fun for a weekend, though.

"He loves sports and all the guy stuff," Ms. Oaklander said. "But on the other hand he loves to cook and he loves design. It balances out."
That's mr. amycat to a t. And while I wouldn't call him and out and out metrosexual, he's more yes than no. He doesn't care about clothes too much, tho he dresses nice when he wants to, most of the time its scruffy abercrombie gear. But heaven forbid a vodka other than Kettel One or Grey Goose pass his lips. I LOVE IT. I've always been more into this type of guy...the "rough around the edges metrosexual" if you will.

I would agree with that. The average-looking dude is prolly better partner material. I need to change strategy.

There were a few guys in my major, but only one (that I know for sure) was gay. The rest just, well, liked fashion, I guess.
In one of my classes last year, the prof was talking about how mens' cosmetics is getting to be a HUGE market now because the taboo is sort of lessening as far as guys using "beauty aids." English men are the biggest consumers in this market. Personally, I think it's cool...I'd love to go cosmetics shopping with a guy!

i know a metrosexual who may counter that theory!
i am deathly afraid of pretty boys, they make me nervous (yay as friends, boo for anything romantic).....but this one "pretty boy" i know is SUPER....he's really down to earth and funny and we have a lot in common......he just happens to have an addiction to the buckle, having perfect hair, using a mud mask on his face, buying three pairs of brown sandals to go with his diff color brown belts, taking forever long showers......
it's so funny and i get on him about it all the time.......but he has a strong resemblance to mark wahlberg, so i ain't complainin too much. he knows what a woman wants, though, and is just trying to be that, "a woman wants a guy who looks like God's gift, but doesn't act like it"......now that's deep.

Reminds me of the character (protagonist - forget his name) in American Psycho, the Brett Easton Ellis novel (and later film).
Patrick Bateman! That was it! I think.

why are we always trying to label someone like they are scientific experiments?

I think a lot of it is down to marketing (i.e. segmenting & positioning [product/service). So you get yuppies, tweenies, silver surfers, yadda yadda. Any way businesses can target the next niche market.

I have a lot of guy friends who could be classified as a metrosexual, and Mr. Jaggerboy is one of them. He's all man and not prissy and I love how he has an apprecation for good food, quality wine and going to the theatre.
Besides, I would never want to be with someone who doesn't put some thought into their appearance. Who wants to date a slob?
