19 -- she was within a couple months of 18

Question was never really "popped." It just kind of became obvious and was one of those "understood" things after a while.

Due to the above, there's no real answer. We dated about four years.

We will have been married 33 years one week from today.

How long did you know each other before "the question" was popped? 6 months. I met my husband a couple of months after I broke up with someone I had lived with for 5 years. The minute I met my husband, I was struck by how well we fit together, and by our third date, knew I was going to marry him. I wasn't in a hurry to get married (obviously!) and had to be semi-convinced that we should get married.

How long was the engagement? 6 months. We got married almost a year to the day after we met.

All in all, it's been a heck of a year. We're expecting our first child together on Christmas Eve.

We met online and he flew out from Vancouver, BC to meet me (I lived in the Washington, DC area at the time)

I was 17 and still in high school. I met him at a "prospective" college picnic/fun day. He was a junior at the school and was playing volleyball. I asked if I could play on his team, and he cursed at me. I almost did not go to the college because of it!

We never really dated. He was a friend. I got sick in my first semester at the school and so we decided to get married.

If you count what I called the "fake" proposal (he says he was serious ) we knew each other other for 3 years. There were 2 other quasi proposals, but the "real" proposal--the one I said yes to--came after 9 years of knowing each other

I was 23 and he was 44 when we met.

He told me within a couple of months that he was going to ask me to marry him, but the actual proposal -- which I thought was a joke -- came on my 25th birthday (August, 2000). The official announcement of our engagement came around Thanksgiving. That was when I got the ring.
