Well my grandmother was a member of a sorority which merged with SK. Does that make me a legacy of SK?

I'm a direct legacy for Alpha Sigma Alpha which is what my Mom was. Also I'm a Phi Mu legacy through my sister. When I went through rush, my university only had Phi Mu, but I found out that my home was with Alpha Gamma Delta! My sister said to have an open mind during rush! She was really excited about my decision!

probably not unless she was initiated into SK. It would be interesting to bring up during rush, but I don't think it would qualify you as a legacy unless she was initiated. A SK can better answer, just using logic here

My brother is a Phi Tau legacy by way of my grandfather. Lord willing he'll marry the nice Alpha Xi girl he's been seeing for forever and both genders will have legacy status. However, if he ever has a girl, she's considered a legacy to my local through me, Aunts count. Although I'm sure my grandfather would be pleased as punch if there was another phi tau in the family...he had my brother's brothers sing one of their songs to him at his 21st, it was so cute.

I am an APhi (Mom) and DG (sister) legacy... But neither were on my campus... So I ended up an ADPi...

She had a SK member pin, does that make a difference?

I'm a Pike, and I'm a legacy because my dad is also a Pike. Me and my 3 brothers (quadruplets) all pledged at the same time and we're all Pikes. My Uncle is a pike along with 2 or 3 cousins. Plus my sister's fiance is a Pike along with 3 of his younger brothers. It's a PIKE FAMILY!!!
Also, my mom is an AOPi, and my sister is an AGD

Wow, that's awesome that you and all your brothers pledged the same fraternity. Sometimes we get twins rushing here, but ususally they wind up in the same place.
*Storytime*
I know Chi O here took one set of twins this year, maybe two. And we had a pair in our sorority that got bids to different sororities, but the one that pledged elsewhere dropped out and then pledged us the next year.
I'm a legacy to KD, and that's it. I'm pretty sure that nobody in my family went Greek before my parents' generation.

Logically, if your mom has a sigma kappa pin then she was initiated into sigma kappa. Otherwise how would she get a pin?
of course i am not an official source, but just thinking through the thought.
I bet if you were interested and call Sigma kappa nationals they would be able to tell you if you are considered a legacy or not.

Good idea to check with SK nationals, because my grandmother isn't around anymore to ask the details. My mom was 12 in 1959 when Pi Kappa Sigma merged with Sigma Kappa, and she only remembers that her mother took her to one meeting. She also remembers that when her mother died she had to contact SK to stop their magazine from coming.
So perhaps she was considered a member, even if there was no initiating ceremony.
