Phi Kappa Psi
Phi Psi was founded on February 19th, 1852 by William Henry Letterman and Charles Page Thomas Moore.
These two gentlemen bonded while helping fellow students recover from a nasty typhoid fever outbreak in the Fall of 1850. This contagious outbreak was so bad that many students left school, and of those that remained, a quarter got sick and died. They risked their lives tending to the needs of their classmates. They eventually decided to found a fraternity based on the "great joy of serving others."
Phi Kappa Psi would be the first fraternity founded neither as a literary society, nor in opposition to another fraternity. These higher ideals caused other fraternities to start calling us the "Noble Fraternity."
Also, we were, by almost half a century, the first fraternity founded that is non-denominational and non-sectarian.
We like to think that in our 152 years, we have helped young men emerge as men of excellence who go onto to better the world. The funeral of T. Woodrow Wilson, a chapter president while in college, featured one flower: the Sweet Pea, Phi Psi's flower during his college years.

Kind of surprised this hasn't already been posted on this thread. And if it has, well, it's worth repeating.
Sigma Chi Fraternity - founded at Miami University June 28th - will celebrate 150 years of tradition and brotherhood June 24-25, 2005 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The 150th Anniversary Celebration
For those of y'all not that good with math, this makes Sigma Chi 149 years young as of this past June.

Sigma Omicron Pi was founded at San Francisco State University in 1930. We're the oldest national Asian-American interest sorority, and we're celebrating our 75th anniversary this year.

So people have said that Kappa was founded in 1870 about fifty times... but what they haven't said is my chapter (Theta!) was founded in 1875!! WE'RE 130... THAT'S OLD! Haha... there was a period where Mizzou banned all secret societies, yet Kappa still continued to meet, so we've been continuously open the whole time, too!!

Tau Delta Sorority, Founded by 10 women in 1915 at Otterbein College as "Tomo Dachi", or Circle of Friends. Became an official sorority in June of 1921. The letters Tau Delta were adapted between 195- 1957.The sorority prospered for many years, but became inactive, as did many over the years. Only to be resurrected in 1988 with our Fabulous Five refounders into the wonderful house she is today.

Kappa Sigma was founded in America on December 10th, 1869 at the University of Virginia. However, our traditonal founding date is 1400 in Bologna Italy. These orgins make Kappa Sigma the oldest Greek Lettered Fraternity in the world.

Some of the info on that is wrong.
The Gamma chapter of Beta Theta Pi, located at Washington and Jefferson College, has been in continous existence since 1842, making it the oldest chapter in continous existence of any fraternity. 163 years old.
