I've been a frequent lurker on this site, but I felt compelled to post after reading some of these comments. I also have too many experiences to count, but I wanted to share something my mom encountered just last weekend...

My mom went to the nail salon and while she was being serviced, in walks a woman yelling across the shop that she'd like a "pedicurrr and manicurrr". The asian gentlemen kindly asked her to take a seat and she replies.."Oh...and I want a fake nail on both of my big toes". My mom puts her head down to hide her embarrassment and contain her laughter. The asian gentlemen could not hold his and looks at him and yells.."What the hell you laughin' at???"

And just yesterday, I realized how some of us refuse to wear maternity clothes even when our bodies say otherwise. I'm in graduate school and there's a girl in my class that looks like should could deliver at anyday. She had on a juicy couture tracksuit, with belly and buttcrack out everywhere. I was so embarrassed...nobody wants to see that mess! There is no excuse considering that even Target makes nice, affordable, and fashionable maternity clothes. I even saw a lady once strolling in the mall, belly out for miles with a halter top on. It wasn't the halter top that disgust me so much, it was the fact the she had on NO BRA and was "lactating" through her top all while strolling like she was auditioning for ANTM! Before seeing her, I was going to stop at Ms. Field's cookies before calling it a day. But once I saw that, I immediately lost my appetite....after vomiting in my mouth of course!

Wow... I missed what you said KSU!!!

One of the famous older hall of fame athletes who lectured at my campus said that merely pursuing the high profile jobs like athletics, entertainment, etc. should NOT be the main focus because:
  • You can get hurt at anytime--look at Remy Ma...
  • Very few make it overall--something like less than 1% and that is due to KNOWING the BUSINESS--meaning do you want to be Kobe Bryant or the man that pays Kobe Bryant's salary?
  • You ONLY have a DEFINED amount of time to do this job at best 20 years, at worst 1 year.
  • Lastly, if getting hurt, lack of reading contracts, or lack of publicity, that wanes--YOU WILL GET OLD AND AGE OUT!!! Genres change. There is always someone younger and faster than you. We cannot stop time.
So when you have the education cushion to back you up, then education sets you free!!!

He said this because some ghettofabulous kneegrow baby's mama uttered that kind of question and was shocked...

Yesterday I was walking back to my office from a training session where I witnessed part of the following exchange:

My building is adjacent to the parking lot for a newspaper. An employee for the paper was trying to turn in to report to work, but no ... one of our folk was blocking the driveway with his Cadillac and was positively indignant when the person from the paper asked him to pull up, talking about some, "I don't have anywhere to park"! Like that's supposed to be the other guy's problem!

I watched this dialogue ensue for several minutes (yes, I know I'm wrong too, LOL) while traffic continued to build behind them, and then the guy finally pulled up. I really thought the cops were going to have to be called. I have a relationship with the paper and I thought about notifying their front desk myself. Sheesh!

OMG..ladies..

My sister showed me this. The clip is of a little boy who stole his grandmothers car because he was mad with his mom. He picked up his little friend for a ride. He hit several things on his driving spree then was later caught.

The interviewer asked: "Did you know that you could have killed somebody?"

The little boy said: "I know, but I dont care..I just wanted to do hoodrat things with my friend!'

** I admit it..I laughed, but because it was so pathetic.

Oh HECK no! This is disturbing on so many levels. ..... and he needs his behind beat (I'm old school, y'all!!), in addition to some strong, CONSISTENT intervention to change his paradigms.

my Lord .....

Yes, I saw that video clip with the little boy. It was a mess and he got a kick out of being bad and obnoxious. My mouth fell open when he made the hoodrat comment.

Not Generally an Advocate of Beatings...

But that boy needs to be BEAT (not spanked), on a daily basis, for the next year or something.

H! A! M!

Just watched it.

The young man looked fearful of other men in authority. A woman can only do so much with our young black children... But when a man with authority steps in, it is a whole 'nother ballgame...

My little 3.5 y/o nephew shapes up when his father steps into the picture... Of course, my brother (his father) had to spank my nephew once or twice. I found a different way of disciplining my nephew when I am around, though...

No video games for a week my azz! I would sell the games and his system. hell, I would donate it to charity. That kid would be beyond dead. I would even beat his azz on camera! I mean grandma has to pay for the damage. She needs to take it out of his behind

I was saying the same thing to my brother earlier.

Grandma: 4 o'clock. Time for your daily beating boy.....

Many yelps later....

Grandma: 5 o'clock. All done. That brings the total down to... Same time tomorrow.

If he wanted to call child services, I would dial the number; and, if they wanted to take him, I would pack the bag.

I agree. There is definately some attention and discipline lacking in his life.
