Hi all,

Thanks for still being so interested in this! I haven't written much because I haven't had too much to write...we're still just working on our "revamping", and trying to get everything organized. It's SO complicated, but I think we're sorting through things alright. We're working on the webpage, right now it's not up and functioning yet. So, more when something interesting happens. As of right now we're just taking things day by day. What's interesting is that I invested so much time and energy into AZD, and now that things are delayed with them, I feel ok with it. Right now I just don't feel like going NPC is as important as solidifying our sisterhood and becoming a stronger group. I know that has always been the truth, but now more than ever I'm feeling like I want changes to occur for the right reasons. More later....

Hey everyone...

No real update, not a whole lot going on. I'm feeling a little discouraged right now...it just never seems like we're going anywhere no matter what. And apparently for this greek council thing I'm going to have to make a presentation in front of all these people and im nervous...more later i suppose...

Not to worry.. While it may feel like you're spinning your wheels you are progressing just by surviving. It took my colony (which was already called a colony by our HQ) 3 years to become a fully recognized chapter. It may take you 3 years or even longer. If you stick by your guns you'll come out on top.

Hi all,
Wow, it's been a while since I posted.

First things first: that webpage isn't my sorority at all. I took this horrible class where they expected us to make a website (in html, which they never taught us) and it had to have a picture, a link, etc. So my roomate and I brought this photo disc, and that was the only um....decent picture I could put on a school project. It's of me and all my housemates from last year, none of whom are in NBO. So I figured I might as well make it an NBO webpage, and then just make it not crappy and with a real picture later. But that never happened cuz I'm lazy But anyway, I'm one in the back row, on the left side. The redhead in black. We really are, however, getting a real website, and as soon as we do I'll let you all know.

Moving on. Things are rather frustrating at this point. Sometimes I feel like I'm never going to have a chance to reap the benefits of a sorority that I want so bad, but I love my sisters and I'm so happy that we're surviving at least. We have some great plans for rush, and I think that working on getting everything planned down to the tiniest details in advance will help us alot. This quarter is almost over (I think 12-6 is our last day) so we're coming down to the wire.

I'm really confused because first, Gamma Phi and Alpha Psi told us they weren't rushing. Then, I got this email from the VP of Gamma Phi, and she was like,
"I know you didn't want us to rush, but we really need to, and we want to do a Panhel style rush with you"
So that's fine and dandy, but I'm a little irritated at her implication that we didn't want them to rush- personally I think they can do whatever they want. And I do think that a joint rush would be beneficial to everyone involved. Some of my girls were nervous about essentially being pitted against the biggest group on campus, but there are several reasons why I think this could be an excellent move for us.
One, it's hard for us to be noticed. No matter how many people we talk to and flyers we put up, I wouldn't expect women to congregate towards us first when every group on campus meets in front of the bookstore at the same time. It's kinda tough to find 9 girls when we're surrounded on all sides by groups of 30-40 girls in matching t shirts.
Second, we do not now, nor did we ever, need or want the same kinds of girls that Gamma Phi seems to recruit. This isn't an insult to them or their pledges, I just see a big gap between the women they take, and the women we take. Hopefully, making sure that women are informed about all the orgs, will help them to gravitate towards the group that fits best for them. (I'm assuming I just reiterated the entire point of a Panhellenic rush, bear with me here folks )

Oh, so this is the other problem I have. Gamma Phi (and our greek advisor I think) seems to want us to cancel all of our events and just do everything that they already planned. But, we've put a whole lot of work into planning, reserving rooms, setting up events with other orgs, etc. So I suggested that we do some events with them, they do some events with us, etc. But the VP wrote back and basically told me she thinks we should reconsider because this would be super beneficial for us, and I think she thinks we don't want to do anything with them at all. It's all very confusing. So basically we're at a point where, if Gamma Phi wants to share events, that'll be awesome. But if they just want us to do all their stuff, then we won't do a joint rush this quarter. I'm a little stressed about all of this, sorry I'm rambling.

Ok on to the fun stuff. Rush theme! We agreed on a theme I came up with that I'm super excited about. It's going to be based "Fun.Fearless.Female: Sisterhood- A Lifetime Subscription" The fronts of our shirts are going to say Nu Beta Omicron, in the same font that's used for the title on Cosmopolitan magazine. Then, underneath that, it's going to say "Fun.Fearless.Female." (Cosmo's theme). The backs are going to have a picture of a magazine subscription postcard, and they'll say "Rush Delivery" at the top. In the name space it'll have NBO, and we'll have a thing with the rush date, and the address line will have our school. There's going to be a little check box that says something like "Yes! Sign me up for a lifetime subscription to sisterhood!". That's the basic idea, I really like it. For one of the events we're going to have like a celebrity party, and for another we're going to have a make your own magazine cover thing. It all should be fun. What do you all think of that idea? I'm really hoping that we can make some big strides this rush and accomplish some better numbers. We're also working on a canned food drive right now, and we're planning some more philanthropy and social events. Comments/suggestions/ideas about any of this are always welcome!
love, Corina
