This part of this whole process is definitely my favorite, if only because of the funny comments that greekchatters have been posting recently! I'm in San Diego right now, visiting the family, and will be picking up four of my sisters on the way back. The others will meet up with us in Santa Cruz, and the meeting is on Monday at like 1 pm I believe. We're going to make a short presentation to AZD telling them about our organization, how hard we've worked, what we've accomplished, why we want to go NPC, etc. Any thoughts on what we should say/present? I have half a mind to just print all of the pages of this thing and make it into a book or something. I'm really happy that we have this record of everything we've done- I think it will help to make sure that none of us- or the women who come after us- will forget how our organization came to be. This is totally like a rush event, so I'm once again trying to decide what I'm going to wear, say, etc. I'm so happy! I'll check this thread again before the meeting, and be sure to expect a huge post afterwards!
love, Corina

Good luck. I hope it goes wonderfully. I imagine the reps from AZD will be as impressed with you as we have been over this last amazing year.
Also, very much looking forward to reading about every last little detail about how the presentation went.

AZD is an awesome organization!! Mr. ChiOJenn's mom is an AZD, and 40+ years after she pledged, she is still involved in alumna activities.
I can't wait to hear about how your presentation goes. Will you be doing fall rush( I'm sorry, I just can't call it Recruitment, it makes me think of the Army)??
Keep us posted-and a million wishes of good luck to you!!

My goodness, this thread is absolutely like a novel. It shows so much dedication and commitment to the values all National GLOs espouse. I feel AZD is fortunate to get the chance to hear your presentation. You already exemplify all the ideals of sisterhood, I don't think I'd be qualified to give you any advice.
Please keep us updated.
God Bless.

I'm really starting to get nervous...what do you do when you suddenly are confronted with what you've worked towards for so long? In many ways this feels like applying to college or something- so much effort culminates in something and it's scary as hell to know that you're so close and there's still a chance that things won't go as you hope. I don't know what I'll do if this doesn't work out. I mean obviously we will be ok and we'll move on but I'll be crushed. It's very comforting to know that, whether things turn out the way I hope or not, I can come here and post and get such warm responses. I'm always suprised when I read that someone considers me to be inspiring or something. I guess deep down inside I have this concern that really I'm only doing this for myself....it's like I'm second guessing my own intentions, which is a ridiculous thing to do. I guess since this has all been happening it's just seemed like something to do, not anything amazing or super special. It makes me happy to know that maybe everything that NBO has done will help some other people realize their goals of becoming greek, or doing anything they have to work hard for. All along I've been saying that things happen for a reason, so I'm trying to keep that in mind. Regardless of whether things go as we hope with AZD, I'm still going to feel an extra amount of respect for them, just because they listened to what we had to say and are giving us a chance, and through this whole process of communicating with them I've felt like they really respected us. More later, gotta get some sleep to prepare for the looooong drive back up North tomorrow!

HOLY COW! That's about all I have to say.
By my estimate, it should be about 2:15 in California right now. Hope things are going well out there.
Good thing it was a slow day at work... I've been kinda distracted.

Hi everyone!
We had our meeting today and it went wonderful! We met with 3 National AZD representatives, and 2 active members from the area, and 2 alumnae (sp?) representatives. Everyone we met with was SO NICE! They seemed very impressed with the campus-they kept talking about how beautiful it was, and what a unique environment it is. Honestly, UCSC is an amazing place, I totally agree with their opinions of it. And then later in the day we had a more formal meeting, and we ate finger foods and they gave a presentation on AZD and what it meant to them, and the basics of their organization, etc. Then we talked about NBO, and gave them some brochures with info, etc. We had a question and answer session, and we really learned alot that you just can't find out from a website or brochure. The entire day went so great, I couldn't even imagine it going any better. And they all remembered our names, and Delia (the greek advisor) said that they were really impressed by us. When they told us certain stories and facts- such as how they were founded, or experiences they had had- I seriously got chills and almost cried. I'll post later with the more technical details, of like how colonization would go, what needs to happen, etc, but for now, I just wanted to let you all know that things are wonderful and as always I really really appreciate all of your support and advice!

Yay! Corina!!
Corina -- that is such great FANTASTIC news but then I think ALL of us on GC KNEW it'd go great for you & NBO!
So now what happens?
Does AXiD have to vote for y'all to be a new colony?
If they have to vote -- how long will it be before you Know?
You have done so much and come so far, I just want the happy ending for you & NBO now!!!

Hurrah, happy happy!
Corina and the women of NBO,
I'm so darned glad to hear things went fabulously yesterday. The women of AZD would be proud to call all of you sisters. I hope it all works out for everyone and can't wait to see what the next step in your process is!
Fraternally,
Christin
