So it's been over a week and I haven't heard from John, so I'm going to call him today. I've been so busy with Halloween and midterms that there was no way I could keep sorority stuff on the top of my priority list. But now that my schedule has calmed down I'm going to jump right back in and make sure the ball is still rolling!

Hi from Australia, everbody!
Hi Corina,
I just wanted you to know that even though I am living in Australia until May 2002 (and therefore, I am not on the Internet as often as I'd like to be!), I still periodically check GreekChat; this thread is one of the few that I check (I usually sign up for 1 hour of prepaid time, so I can't surf indefinitely, so I pick my threads in order of interest and importance to my heart!)
Please know that this thread is the one that holds my interest the most and I love reading about your progress with starting a new NPC from halfway across the world!
We'll are pulling for you and keeping our fingers crossed for you! We all want to see you go Greek!

Hey all,
Couldn't get in touch with John, which makes me a little nervous. I'm sure things are just crazy there. I can't imagine doing the amount of work that I've asked him to do, so I'm not exactly pushing for a speedy response here. Things in my life haven't been going so great- I have strep throat and I'm having severe roomate issues. I need to make more friends because the ones I have right now are not being very nice. Anyway. Interesting side note- there was one girl that rushed Gamma Phi with me, who got in. I couldn't believe that she got in and I didn't, and it turns out she dropped out. The rumor is (and this is just a rumor, don't take this too seriously) that she felt they were too superficial. This completely reminds me of how I want my sorority to be different you know? My other co signers are not being particularly cooperative. We have to go to a half hour long meeting with the student activites office, and they're all complaining about it. I understand that they're busy, but I'm more busy than all of them and I'm managing to get it done. They seem to just expect me to do all the work while they get to do the fun stuff, and I absolutely can't handle all of this on my own. Please ignore me, I'm stressed out and tired and sick and thus everything is just seems worse than it is. I'll post again if I figure anything else out. Thank you all for your words of encouragement. CutiePie, I feel so happy after reading your post, I really appreciate that.

Take a couple of deep breathes and relax..I know, easier said than done. You have come so far...farther than MOST girls with your experience and of your age could manage. The others, well, they may not have the foresight you have and only see the obstacles. Anything really important never has a smooth road. In the end, we can appreciate it more and revel in the accomplishment. It is normal for things to hit bumps in the road.
The most important thing is to take care of yourself. You are at a very high stress level, and our bodies are more vulnerable in that state. Focus on your goal, have faith in John. You must believe in yourself- we do!

Hey Corina!
I'm sorry things aren't going smoothly for you right now, but you know what? We all know that you'll get through this and everything will turn out wonderfully because, well, you rock!
Sit back and relax, drink some tea and (I know you've heard this a million times) think about what an awesome thing you're doing. You are the glue that is holding everything together, and once your organization gets off the ground, you will really have accomplished something huge. Really, you already have made a huge contribution, and we all are truly proud of you. You are obviously going to be hugely successful not only in school but in life in general, because of your ability to figure out what you want and then go for it. Seriously, you are an inspiration!
If you ever need to vent about roommate problems, let me know! I've been there.
Hi CP2000! I hope you're having fun in Australia!

My mother was a Gamma Phi Beta at West Virginia University in the 1960s. That chapter is closed now, for some reason.

Amen...
Sweetie...
Hang in there. You've got a tremendous start and now need to calm yourself and keep going. You need to know that things are not built in a day, but with
good work like you are doing -- it will happen.
you have a strong character and insight well beyond your years.
keep posting. you can feel safe to vent here.
cheers

Still no word from John I'm totally stressing. Maybe this process just takes longer than I'm anticipating? I hope so. I put sooo much effort into this and suddenly everything just feels like it's at a stand still, and it's driving me crazy!!! Everythings going to work out right?

This process takes some time. You have been moving at an amazing speed. Sit back and take some deep breaths. It will all be okay. You are doing an amazing job -- just email John and follow it up with another phone call to see what's going on. Student affairs people tend to be crazy busy and he probably just hasn't had a chance to call you back.
Take care and happy studying!

Give it a little time....if you don't hear anything back by the start of next week, call him. Don't make a pest of yourself, but don't let them forget you and make sure they know you won't forget!!! If they know how important this is to you they will follow through. You have come this far, don't let perceived delays get you down.
