I've got my car keys ready
I've said it once and I'll say it again.....I am so excited for you! And, just to repeat everyone else for the hundreth time, we are all behind you.
You should DEFINITELY print out these posts and put them aside as a keepsake. Even if the whole thing ends up not working out, at least you'll still have some cool memories to look back on.
However, I don't think that this will fall through. As a matter of fact, I would love to show my support for "your" colony by attending the official presentation/installation when it finally arrives. Seriously. I live in L.A. and I will straight-up drive to UCSC. I bet other California-area GC members would too!
We're all waiting anxiously to hear news as if it were our own campus! You go girl! Go! Go! Go!

You all are so sweet! I really hope this works out. I feel like it will but until I know for sure I'm going to be completely insecure about the whole thing. I think my last email to Mary was just the right approach, because this is what I just got back from her:
hey
this is so exciting! i will not be in the office during the time that you
meet with john but i am sure that whatever you tell him will be passed on to
me and i will be sent on some kind of errand! so good luck with dg. they
are a very reputable sorority, and gamma phi will totally help you guys get
started with stuff. i know a lot of little tips which would be helpful for
you guys once you start rush etc. our campus is very unique in terms of how
we have to do things, so we may want to get together just to brainstorm
ideas. (for example dg will give you lots of ideas for things to do, and
gamma phi will most likely have tried a lot of those ideas in the past. i
could give you a heads up on which ones are more successful on our campus,
and which ones are just kinda a waste of time/money, etc. ya know?)
its going to be so nice to have another NPC sorority on campus! with three
groups, we may actually get to do some panhellenic stuff!?
well anyway,
im excited!
So that's all for now! Thanks again for the encouragement, as soon as I know anything I'll let you know- and I'll especially be sure to post right after my meeting on Tuesday morning, 10 AM!

Sounds awesome! I'm glad to see that it seems Mary and Gamma Phi are prepared to help your new sorority get established. Good luck (again)!

Hey everyone,
I'm new to GreekChat (I just activated my account like 2 minutes ago), and have been reading this thread the whole way through. My sorority is local and we are doing the same thing ya'll are, Corina. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors and I look forward to hearing updates.

Hi Leigh Ann,
I just wanted to say that (although I am obviously not an expert or anything) if there's anything I can do to help you, please let me know. And, as I'm sure you can see, this is a great place to be if you're looking for people who will support and understand you! Good luck, and keep us posted!

Hey!
Yeah we have been looking to go national since like 2 semesters and have really gotten going on it this semester. I'm not the president or anything. I'm just an active. We were founded in spring of 01'. All I really have done was buy some stuff for it, but I love my sorority and can't wait till we go national and I can call a group of ya'll on here my sisters.
Much love ,
Leigh Ann

Yes we have a time table. I don't know all of it since i'm not anything important as far as holding offices go so my facts are kinda limited. We have been in want to mode since our founding. I'm not a founder of the local sorority, but I will be a founder of our chapter of whatever national sorority we go to. I'm so excited!

Hi everyone!
I have to say, I think the meeting went really well. John- the faculty person I met with- is an active alum in a BGLO, so he definitely understands the benefits that come with a strong Greek system. He told me alot about how Greek life at UCSC is being reformed, and he explained how the new processes will work. He also seemed really really impressed with the amount of information I provided him with. I guess TKE and another IFC frat have expressed strong interest in colonizing here, but no other NPC sororities. This is particularly exciting to me because I want my sorority to have a brother frat to do stuff with, and Gamma Phi kinda has a monopoly on both of the existing frats I've mentioned before. He's going to be the faculty advisor for me, and he's going to get in touch with NPC this week. I honestly can't think of a better person to have helping me, he obviously has a good handle on not only how to do this but also why it's so important to me. He said he was also going to call a colleague of his- the Greek life advisor at UCSB I think- and get his input on how this process works. I'm supposed to write him a letter expressing my interest so he can show it to the appropriate higher ups, and we're meeting again next Tuesday at 2. Things are all kindof jumbled up in my head right now because I'm so excited, so if I think of anything else I'll be sure to post right away!
