California actually has 10 active chapters, which is pretty good, but considering the size of this state, there are SO many more schools where ADPi would make a wonderful addition (in my honest and completely unbiased opinion )
I'd love to see a chapter in every state of the U.S., every province of Canada, and continue our expansion into international universities

You'd be surprised at the hostility of most CA campus admin's for Greeks on their campuses; in most cases, it isn't in our interest to have a chapter there due to lack of campus support for Greek Life.

We have such strong chapters in Florida that I think we NEED to Colonize more here. ZTA has 9 chapters or more in Florida.
Places I'd like to Adpi in Florida are: UT-University of Tampa, U of M- Univeristy of Miami, UNF- University of North Florida, Jacksonville , Stetson University , and Gulf Coast University <----which is a new school in the Naples area. We had a bid in to colonize there but DDD won it.
It makes me crazy to see all of these other sororities expanding all over Florida! Adpi needs to get on this!!!!!

I think I'd have to see a list of STRONG Alumnae Associations in order to make a really better list of where we should be colonizing. Having a good support group (or 2!) is necessary for survival past one or two years of colonization.

I'd really like to see a chapter in New Jersey!
I know there are chapters nearby in neighbouring states, but I think it would be great to have a chapter in my home state.

Thank you, WLFEO!
Example: Right now, the Greater Pittsburgh Area has not one, not two, but THREE semi-active/inactive alumnae chapters! Granted, there is a core of alumnae who will do whatever it takes to get Alpha Delta Pi on a campus - but it really DOES take many more people than most realize - sisters who will be there for the long run, at LEAST the first five years!

I know the Akron Area Alumnae Association would help support one at Kent State University. But would they put a chapter at a university, so close to another university (suburb of the other)that already has ADPi?
What I am saying is would they put a chapter at KSU when there is one at Akron (10 miles away)??

Stanford University would be able to have at least 2 active alum assoc. there to help it... The Palo Alto one and the Penninsala one... On top of that there is also the East Bay one which is under an hour away...

I'm not an authority in this, but I can't see why they wouldn't consider it. San Diego has two collegiate chapters with one alumnae association supporting both chapters (and I think the distance between the two schools in probably even less than 10 miles!)
That's just my *uneducated* opinion, however!

I think y'all are misunderstanding me.
If your Alumnae Associations are strong and committed, well, you can start up a dozen colonies, and they'll all be successful!
But by definition, Alumnae are usually involved with a career, possibly church/synagogue, possibly family, other activities. That's why you have to have truly committed Alumnae, ones who really want to see that colony make it.
When Eta Beta was colonized, alumnae came from all over Western PA to make that commitment - and I'm talking maybe as many as 5-6 different Alumnae Associations! I was making tea sandwiches in my sleep - but we did it! We put a chapter of Alpha Delta Pi on a campus that "couldn't hold" another sorority!
So, as you decide where you'd like to see a colony, think really, really hard about how much time you're willing to give up to see this through. You must be willing to lay the foundation, start the colony, see it through Initiation, and BE THERE for them for at least three to five years.
And if y'all think I'm being hard, frankly, I think I'm listing the barest of minimums!
Play on through...

I know i'm dreaming but...
I'd love to have our Alpha chapter back, I mean Weaslyan has so much tradition in and of itself and for us. It would be so great if Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Mu could have their roots back. I know that thats problably not gonna happen in this lifetime but one can dream...
