You know, I didn't even notice that.... the DZ connection is interesting. Not only is Alpha Chapter at Miami, their HDQ are in Oxford too.... There must be some active DZ alums really writing great recs for the Cincinnati area girls.

If I remember right, same thing happened at Bama last year. 2 or 3 girls from the Cinci area went DZ. Typically, a lot of collegians from Cincinnati go Greek and there are a lot of alums in the area. Cinci is a lot more like the South than the rest of Ohio, and not just due it being geographically South.

Wow, what a great example of RFM! And I believe Auburn has been using RFM for at least a couple years (I want to say three). Someone else would know better though.

And as for out of state PNMs, I saw at least two from the NW!

Hi all! I'm brand new to greekchat. Just saw the recruitment results for AU and wanted to wish CONGRATS to all the great new members at Auburn! Sounds like a fantastic recruitment for everyone. And of course a special welcome to the new baby Xi's!

On Auburn's list is the stepdaughter of an ADPi friend of mine who used to live in my town-the girl went ADPi! I know her stepmother is beyond thrilled! The girl's older sister is an Auburn graduate, but wasn't a member of any sorority. However, another sister is currently a Phi Mu at a Georgia university, so they're keeping it to Macon Magnolias. Great news!!

you can google "auburn university", then enter "panhellenic" or "greek life" in search on the auburn homepage, then follow the prompts.

Hey I'm just back from a day with my daughter in Auburn.

Congrats to all the groups and their new sisters!

My daughter was a little sad I could tell no matter what she said but I came in and took her to lunch and then to Simply Charming for some retail therapy - first smile of the day I got out of her was in there, imagine that!

There was a big storm around 4:00 with heavy rains, lightning and even some small hail - I thought about the girls and their families and the parking situation at AU being what it is there is no way around having to walk a long way wherever you go. It was raining so hard we sat in the car and waited a while for it to slack before going in to the grocery store - plus I wanted to kill as much time as possible to be sure her roommates (who both got bids) were gone so she wouldn't have to be there for that.

On my way home she texted me about how one of her roommates came in with all her cute letter stuff and she said her family was trying to make her feel better so it was a hard day for her but thankfully classes begin Monday and she'll be able to start putting it behind her.

Awww, big hug to your daughter. It must be so hard to see her hurting right now. While many suggest that it will be difficult to find a sorority home through COB, I hope your daughter will consider registering. You just never know. If sorority life isn't meant to be, there are so many other opportunities to get involved with community service, SGA, intramurals and the many clubs at Auburn. Best of luck to her.

Not a fan of rush before school

This is the part I hate about rush that falls before classes begin. Deferred rush seems like such a better idea, for many reasons.

Congrats to all of the chapters at Auburn on their great numbers and great girls! And special congrats to Pi Phi, who got one of my all-time great students... she is so happy to be an angel!

IMHO, recruitment before classes is better because you don't have conflicts with classes, and you avoid some of the tent talk and rumors. It doesn't interfere with or distract other students coming back to school. You get it over with and done.
But really, it's just what you're accustomed to.
