Is it sad that when I saw "Oregon" I immediately thought of "You have died of dysentery." ?? Better luck to you, transferkid!

As far as your last question goes, no one here will be able to give you an answer. It's impossible to predict the likelihood of a sophomore getting into a house. As far as I know, all the houses at Oregon are GOOD houses. So please don't go into rush thinking you'll only consider a few sororities. Going in with an open mind and considering all of them is encouraged.
WC<3Sweet is rushing at Oregon this Fall, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe you can ask her questions after she's done rushing.

And really, all the houses are good...

I don't go to UO, but I go to OSU, and i know both schools have good houses; have a buch of HS friends in houses at UO, and they all LOVE LOVE LOVE their chapters.
Good luck on recruitment!

I was at UO in the late 90s, so this information may be out of date, but at least when I was a student, recruitment wasn't terribly competitive and most of the women going through received a bid if they maximized their options. I don't remember how many women went through recruitment, but quota was usually in the high twenties to low thirties - from what I've heard, it's been pretty steadily in the low 30s for the last few years. Most women live in the chapter houses for at least two years (usually their sophomore and junior years) but every chapter has different live-in requirements so that's something you may want to ask about if you go through recruitment. Greek life isn't huge on campus - I think about 10% of the student body is Greek? It's not a campus where being a sophomore is going to be a huge disadvantage - plenty of sophomores went through recruitment and received bids. I hope that helps!

Transferkid- I'm confused, are you going to Oregon or to San Diego State? ( You asked the same question re: SDSU on a different thread) I'm just curious.

I think she's confused a lot of people.
FWIW, she said she's CONSIDERING transferring to either SDSU or U of O.
To the OP, please don't make your decision based on sorority life. If you're gonna transfer, do it for better reasons.

to clear up confusion
i am a transfer student who went to a university for fall of 2007-2008
i am currently at a community college for 2008-2009 and i am trying to figure out what schools i want to attend for FALL OF 2009. sdsu and oregon are my top choices although after finding out some helpful infromation on sdsu and that they do not accept sophmore transfers i am probably headed to oregon or back to my former university..but like most transfers i want to weigh out ALL my options and not just chose a school the second i withdrew from my last college so theres a few schools i am looking at not just one.
-i was asking about rush for both oregon and sdsu since i was considering them both as future school options. and if i would possibly be rushing at either. i had a bad rusing experince at my former univerisity and i dropped but i may consider doing formal agian although for me at this point informal seems like the best option.

Maybe I missed it, but why did you withdraw in the first place, and what are the criteria you are using to determine where you go? Is it only because your rush went poorly and you want to try again?

I didn't get that vibe, since it sounds like she stayed for the whole year. People who drop out of school for recruitment-related reasons would probably leave before school starts or maybe only stay one semester.

i left for academic reasons, personal reasons, and the fact that i was ready for a change and actually a lot college students do transfer schools. i DID NOT transfer because of a rush issue.
please can we stay on topic this is not about why i transferred or if i transferred or why i left school sorry but that is no ones business. so please drop it.
just it would be extremely helpful to find out what the oregon greek system and recruitment is like. thats ALL i want to know and that is ALL im asking i dont think you need my backround to find that out and i am not about to get personal about my life on a forum. thanks. sorry if that seemed harsh but i thought i have explained it enough.
