How about a service activity? After all, that's your purpose, right?

Bowling could be a good call. Maybe miniature golf as well. The good thing about miniature golf is that you could pair off 2 rushees with 2 members and get some good 1 on 1 rush going.

AnchorAlumna- good call on a service activity. maxdielr- how about doing something fairly basic like participating in a food drive for a couple of hours, and then take the rushees out for a quick lunch after? It would give them a taste of the purpose of the organization, and it would be a good way for you guys to watch rushees in action and make sure they are joining with the purpose of engaging in philanthropic activities.

Come to think of it- how about preceding all social rush activities with a service project of some kind? Looking at the kind of events you are planning on the social side, I would be worried that you guys might spend a lot of money rushing people who just want some free food and fun for 2 weeks. Adding in the service component every time- again just something basic- could help you weed out freeloaders.

Edit- just thought of something. If it is too difficult to come with a service project to go along with every rush event, how about preceding every rush event with a tour of/visit by a representative of/presentation about one of the specific charities your organization supports?

Only works if they do a service project at the same time.

Thats actually a good point, we have done things like a can drive during the day with XYZ sorority followed by an "impromptu" party with said sorority.

It's a rush to get the possible pledges interested and for them to meet the brothers. Compelling them to do a service activity for a group they have no official tie to is not really kosher, not to mention if they foul it up the org's name is attached to their actions and it can make them look bad. Not to mention liability issues.

It's kind of like having a chapter meeting as an NPC rush activity.

There may be some APO (I'm assuming this is APO) chapters who do this kind of thing, but I personally would not. Stick to socials, movie nights etc.

thank u guys, for all your helpful ideas i really appreciated Thursday on are meeting i will tell the other people about your great ideas.
I'm also worried that we are going to spend spend a lot of money rushing people that just came for the food and activities and more because we don't have as much right now as we wish u have for rush=(, the college may provide us with some food and sodas if we ask but that is it

Why are you rushing for 2 weeks, anyway?? Are you at a huge campus? We never had more than 3 nights of rush and that was more than ample to provide us with a pledge class.

I mean don't try to compete with what the social fraternities are doing, because you're not that.
