Ronald Jeremy was the one who started this thread, and if he wasn't busy spamming the boards this morning with stupid posts and a hotlinked image from IMDB, his posts would probably still be up.
FWIW, I like Blockbuster. Sure, they have 2 Day Rentals, but as long as you bring em back within a week, you won't get charged for the movie purchase. Even then you can bring the movie back within 30 days and get your money back less the $1.25 restocking fee.
We'd do Netflix, but mail theft's a problem, so we're not doing it until we move to a better neighborhood.
I suppose the only thing I don't like about Blockbuster is the employee dude who always feels the need to flirt with my BF...even if I'm there.

I don't mind Blockbuster, but my cable company does "On Demand" movies, so that's usually a better option. It's a bit cheaper, and you don't even have to leave the house.

He must be an idiot if he thinks that.
Anyway, they have that offer on the receipt saying if you fill out the survey, you get a free rental. His employee number's on the receipt.
If he doesn't quit it, I'll be filling out that survey and let them know, that's for sure.

They keep closing the ones near my house. Guess everyone is doing the On Demand and Netflix thing instead.

Same thing is happening with Hollywood Video. My boyfriend hates Blockbuster for a variety of reasons (one being their crappy employment practices - he had a friend who worked there and turned him off to Blockbuster), so we used to always go to Hollywood Video but they closed the one near us. The guy there said they'll be closing a lot of them in the next few months.

Or Redbox. My grocery store has one of them in it. I can rent movies for a buck. Not bad. Cheaper and closer than my nearest Blockbuster.

$5 for one movie doesn't sit well with me. We also have Redbox and another cheap spot, DVDExpress - which is within walking distance. We also have the local library where all movies are free and they keep up-to-date with the most recent releases (i.e. 2008 movies!)

It depends on which blockbuster, the ones with long rentals and no late fees are great, but I know how to download and burn screeners so its cheaper for me to just buy DVDs.

The 3 ones in Gainesville are still open. Same for the ones near me in my current city.
I did see a Hollywood Video close, but another one is still open.
I rented from Blockbuster this past weekend. Hadn't done so in like 3 or 4 years. I get most of my DVDs at my library for free- that's why.

I switched to On Demand and Redbox, but a couple of weeks ago I went into Blockbuster because sometimes they have movies the others just don't. Anyway, because I am a social gal, I was talking to the manager about business. As part of the conversation we talked about the Club card they have. Turns out it is actually a pretty good deal. $10 gets you a free movie and every movie I pay full price for, I get one of the older movies for free. You get 1-$1.99 movie a month free, one free movie a month, 10% off any condiments. I was nursing an aggravated injury and was spending a few days on the couch watching movies. I rented 7 for around $20. Now, I'll only be in once a month probably, but it was still a good deal.

Along those lines - if you drink Coke products and collect the Rewards points, some of the rewards give you pretty good deals at Blockbuster.

I hate the sensors that they put on the DVDs and video games.
The last time I rented Wii games from BB, the sensor got stuck inside the Wii and my Wii was unable to work anymore. It wouldn't read any games that were inserted. I called up Nintendo and they said that it was damaged and I had to return it to them to fix it.
When I went back to BB to let them know & see if they could pay the maintanence fee, the Manager said no. He said the only way they could pay for it (after asking the area manager) was if I sent my Wii to their repairman---who was only experienced repairing VCRs. lol.
