Harvard clamps down on underage binge drinking et al

I had to read this long Op-ed piece, from the Harvard Crimson, a few times before I got the whole picture.
Interesting read:
Shaken, Not Stirred
Harvard administrators don’t hate fun—they hate us

In the past six months, the Harvard administration has made itself perfectly clear: “college” is cancelled. The combination of underage binge drinking, uncontrolled hazing, and unhindered irresponsibility that has produced generations of great Americans has met its untimely end, at the hands of a pack of lawyerly dweebs.

It's a interesting piece full of sarcasm lol (a fairly witty writer). Yet, once you get past most of the bs in the article, you find some novel points.

1) Harvard like many private institutions with wet campuses have to battle their own traditions before they can combat underage drinking.

2) I amazed in the fact or organization dorm parties, underage or not.

3) Take a little offense to the boredom of drinking with graduate students lol.

Interesting article, the guy can certainly write. But, he's at Harvard, so that's not a huge shock.

The thing is, though, that no matter the efforts of the administration to cut down on the "traditional" drinking spots and activities, it is almost impossible to cut out underage drinking in a city like Boston. You have Harvard, MIT, BU, BC, and (for a slightly longer T/cab ride) Tufts. There are loads of off-campus housing in Cambridge, Allston and Boston, and tons of places to drink and, if you're smart, avoid getting caught.

Ah this will be short lived, sort of like every spring when the ATF comes to crack down on underage drinking, then they are no where to be found for an entire year.
