Imus at it again
What more can I say.....?
NEW YORK -- Just months after returning to the airwaves with a pledge to mend the wounds caused by his racist and sexist comment about a women's basketball team, Don Imus is again drawing fire for injecting race into his radio show.
During an on-air conversation Monday about the arrests of suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones, Imus asked, "What color is he?"
Told by sports announcer Warner Wolf that Jones, who used to be nicknamed Pacman, is "African-American," Imus responded: "There you go. Now we know."
The exchange came six months after Imus' return to work on a new show on WABC-AM following his firing from MSNBC and CBS Radio for making a racially and sexually charged comment about the Rutgers University women's basketball team. When he returned to work, Imus gave a lengthy on-air apology and pledged to use his new show to foster an open dialogue on race relations.
Later Monday, Imus responded to criticism of his comments, saying he had been misunderstood.
"I meant that he was being picked on because he's black," Imus said in a statement released by his spokesman.

As it's been said, a cheetah can't shed it's spots...but it makes for great camoflauge...and controversy makes money.
(and messes up some money too)
In all reality....Imus is still trying to keep himself relevant in this day and age when fame has gone from 15 mins to 15 secs....
Now...something to consider which gives a little bit of weight to what I speak....
Since he has been back on the air...his show's ratings have been down and the overall station that he is on is down:
http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/2...-don-imus.html
So....you have to do something to get people to notice you again, right?
Only except, this time if this really gets noticed, and he loses his job for exercising his 1st Amendment right, the next job he may get will be a midnite show airing in Biloxi, Missisippi

Taken IN CONTEXT, I see what he probably meant and how easy it is to misunderstand what he meant.
It seems like he was saying that Pacman was being targeted because he's African American, even if his first arrest was his fault.
I think that's bullcrap, btw. Pacman was instrumental in his own downfall. There are more deserving blacks and Hispanics to use as the posterpeople for unfair treatment.

I'm just glad the "outrage" over this is minimal.

and for those of us that have read the transcript of the incident, we know that it wasn't a racial slur or anything, he was talking about profiling.
I don't like Imus for my own reasons, but I don't get why people are cutting the transmission and leaving out the following discussion to make it look like this.

I've heard it being accused as a racial slur on the news.
I think people are just picking and looking at every little thing he says now. Reading the transcript it's obvious his statement was taken out of context.

Guilty before proven innocent especially in light of other wrong doing.

Haha - sorry, but the term "the wrath of my truth" is pretty awesome.

I have a question - why the hell is his nickname "Pacman" anyway? It's so 80s. I mean, I don't see Centipede Smith, Frogger Carlson and Space Invaders Macgillicuddy on the football field.
