Hazing...
is hazing really gone from most sororities??
i know at a school in florida that measures their PNMs bust and waist line and doesn't give them a bid if they dont meet certain requirements
also that some local sororities have the girls get into their bras and thongs and have fraternity guys circle parts of their bodies that they dont like and those with the most circles aren't given bid
hopefully not true just curious

pshtt...that's nothing. Wait until you hear about how you have to get naked and get in a coffin and wash all the frat guys' cars in bikinis and clean the seniors' bathrooms with your toothbrush.
And in case you can't read sarcasm, no, that's all crap. There's absolutely no way any sorority could go around measuring rushees DURING rush. That's ridiculous. And very simple, if you ever feel like you're involved with a group that's going to do something stupid like measure your bust or parade you in front of fraternity guys with Sharpies, bolt out the nearest exit. The worst hazing you should get is too many gifts from your big sister these days. "Where, oh where, am I going to fit one more XYZ trinket???"

I'm picturing a chapter trying to do this to 65 PNMs during a fifteen-minute Ice Water Tea, and I'm cracking up laughing. Would Panhellenic mandate the size, color, and gradation of tape measure to be used? Would there only be a certain number of tape measures allotted to each chapter? Would there be a separate 'measurement-challenged PNM' quota that does not count against the original quota?

That was a really good movie.
That movie got that idea from somewhere and I'm sure some chapters have gotten that idea from that movie. How common it is, no one on here knows or will admit if they do know.

That was a really good movie, though. Your friends were probably teasing because you never saw that old movie.
Just like you're teasing us.

Summer is typically a relaxed time for sororities, but I know that alot of sororities spend time preparing for recruitment in the summer/fall before school starts.

ROFL! That's the exact same picture that popped into my head! What about allowing a certain percentage of a pledge class being 'measurement exceptions'?

incidentally, the rug by the front door.....it is actually a weight scale and when the pnm steps on it, it registers her weight. the results are registered on a screen in a secret room-two actives monitor the screen during all the parties. everyones weight is discussed during voting.
seriously, you can come on here and ask as many lame questions as you want. don't ask those same questions during your actual recruitment.
if you will be in gainesville during the summer and are planning on participating in formal recruitment in the fall at uf, behave yourself. the walls have eyes.
