What color did your chapter wear for Prefs?

Our dresses were black, as were the majority of chapters' dresses at UF. I'd only ever heard of wearing black or white, but then I saw an old thread where an ADPi said they wore blue! What color were your prefs dresses?

My last year, we were told to either wear a BLACK cocktail dress with WHITE shoes or a WHITE cocktail dress with BLACK shoes. It sounds odd but it actually looked really good.

I believe the chapter is switching back to ALL black this year with pearls.

My chapter had a rule stating that our dresses had to be either tea length or slightly above the knee, no shorter or longer. They also could not be polyester (because it tends to look cheap). Our shoes also had to be a stiletto-style heel (unless you had a medical reason for not wearing them).

We always wore black but I have seen pics of Zetas wearing turquoise. And AOPi wore red at our school I think.

That actually sounds like it could be beautiful and unique!

Black.

I remember hearing that the year I came through rush was the first year they wore black. It was white before that. Not sure if I'm imagining that though.

Black.

I would say 70% of the chapters on my campus wore black when I was an active. I think one or two wore white, AOII wore red and I think DZ wore green/teal (and were supposedly all made by an alumna and very '80s - I went through rush in '97).

Get ready to be wowed....back in the day....we wore long, light blue satin formal gowns in one of three attractive styles that you made (or had someone make!) over the summer. Oh so darling, not to mention hot and sticky.

Black, knee length, no cleavage. The only white was the pearls.

I'll date myself: we wore various pastels of the same style dress, all made by the same seamstress in town and passed down for generations. Note that my chapter has come a LONG way and that no one has seen those dresses, except in scrapbooks, for many moons!

Back in the old days, at my non-competitive campus, we wore a cocktail dress, but not any one particular color. We did have dress-checks by the recruitment chair, though.
I wore my mother's silk dress from the 50s, that was so, so cool. Then, it was called Retro, now it's call vintage. If I was still a Size 2, I would wear it today.

My chapter wore black. Shoes had to be black, but they could be heels or flats. Jewelry had to be pearls, with an exception for engagement/wedding rings.

All the chapters except Alpha Phi wore black. APhi wore white and decked out their room in ivy and white decorations. As a rho chi, I got to see every chapter's rush room, and I must say APhi's room blew me away.
