Recruitment at Valdosta State
A friend's daughter has just decided on Valdosta State, and is considering rushing in the fall. Can anyone share info about greek life there? I didn't see sorority housing on the website, so do they meet in dorms/suites? I also wondered about chapter sizes, and how big greek life is there. She has a grandmother who was a colonizing member of an ADPi chapter somewhere, but I think she would go into recruitment very openminded. She will know few people at VSU, so I think recruitment would be a great way to meet some new people. Any info is appreciated.

I have a daughter there who's Greek--rushed last year--and 2 more of mine were in a different sorority there a few years ago. Greek life has gotten very big; pledge class size has doubled in maybe 3 years. PM me!

You know what? I'm wondering if that was a rumor. Nobody's ever seen anything official...
If they do get another group, it could be kind of hard for that group; 4 of the 5 sororities have been there since nationals started, I believe. The fifth is also strong.

Phi Mu was one of their first groups. I don't think VSU ever opened for colonization--there was a poster, supposedly a Valdosta Greek, who announced on GC that they were opening for colonization since a sorority had recently folded there. At the time, most of the VSU Greeks on GC thought it was a troll post; the poster never came back.
I bet you're thinking of that!
