Arrow COB then formal recruitment...

hey, i am so sorry if this has been answered already, but i'm in a bit of a dilemma. i'm a sophomore at my college (it isn't in the SEC) and for upperclassmen there are cob parties before actual formal recruitment in the fall. i went to a couple without thinking much of it and i was only at the two parties for a very short time because of conflicting classes and everything. i received bids from both of these parties. i didn't accept either of them for legitimate reasons, mainly because i didn't feel like i could make an informed decision since i had only been there for a short time, and i'm signed up for formal recruitmt now. my question is that during formal recruitment when i visiti these chapters again would it be extremely out of line to mention anything about receiving a bid through COB? i'd rather err on the cautious side but jsut wondering. thanks

I wouldn't mention it, since the sisters may already know. If it comes up, just say that you wanted to be able to make a more informed decision, and express interest in those chapters if you truly are interested. Good luck to you!

Actually...I WOULD mention it. If you did that to my chapter, I would assume you just weren't interested, and I think it would hurt you in getting invites back to future rounds.

I guess it depends how you bring it up. There is definite potential in sounding like you have an automatic in if you say you already got a bid. Theoretically, the chapter probably would still want you, but if there is a certain tone, it could be a turn off.

They are well aware they offered you a bid. You don't need to tell them. No matter how innocently it comes out of your mouth, it isn't going to sound good. If they bring it up in conversation with you (which I hope they have the smarts not to) just tell them you had issues with your classes at the beginning of the year that are now fixed and weren't sure you had time to commit to A sorority (not necessarily their sorority specifically). If you aren't interested, they will know that if you drop them during formal rush.

Above all, be polite and gracious when you go back to these chapters. But don't feign an interest you don't feel, if you don't feel it.
