Hey queequek, Beta Xi chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma is in your boat, only much worse. I don't know about your campus, but on ours, every chapter has huge (well, not exactly HUGE-3 feet tall or so) plywood block letters to carry to events. Ours are always displayed along one wall of our chapter lounge. From time to time they get "borrowed." Nobody minds it, really, because it is pretty funny to walk to class bleary eyed and see your letters smiling down on you from the roof of a fraternity house. Fall 2000 semester, our letters were borrowed, and we haven't seen them since. We have politely requested information from all the chapters on campus (fraternity and sorority alike) about their disappearance, and to no avail. Our advisor has gone to IFC to ask about them. Our former chapter president is the current Panhellenic President, and she has asked about them there. We have heard many rumors, but still haven't seen them. A father in the chapter has gone ahead and made replacements for the upcoming year. I have mixed feelings about this: on one hand, we will be able to have our letters at Bid Day, but then again, whoever stole them will never be discovered.
