Try talking to your chapter advisors..and have them talk to him, or either attempt to have him 'replaced' so to speak..at least see if there is something that the higher-ups can do..

Yep, been there, done that. Talk about dictator. She is very disorganized, doesn't attend PC or GPC meetings, and half of the time she doesn't know what is going on. Our president has even went as far as to use sorority funds for personal things. Everybody knows what's going on but they don't have the balls to say anything. They think it will just work itself out. Our problem is we are a local sorority and we don't really have any steps for kicking people out of their chairs. So if you can help me on that one it would be much appreciated.

I say "boot him". Don't let one person bring down something that you and others believe in.

For sure talk to your chapter advisor. This is the kind of thing that he/she is there for.

Second, I'll bet your national constitution says that meetings are to follow Parliamentary Procedure. When used correctly, there is NO "making up rules," and it allows for equal interaction within the structure of any formal meeting.

Go pick up a copy of "Roberts Rules of Order." It's one of the two authorities on Parliamentary Procedure -- I can't remember the other one. It is probably available at your local book store.

Good luck,

Do you have a "Standards Board"? If you do, get your constitution, review it for things he isn't doing or is doing incorrectly, and have him brought before the Standards Board. They can decide if he stays or goes.
We also have our Member At Large speak to them, as that's their role...to be a mediator.

Standards Board should always be the first stop since that's what they are in place for. I'd start there -- is there not protocol for speaking during meetings? We have a system in place that requires each sister to be recognized appropriately -- that's kind of strange that he won't let anyone talk.

Who's his big/lil brother? Maybe one of them could approach him. I don't think he should be booted out first thing (which is why our Standards Board follows a procedure) but he could use a helpful reminder that he is the chapter president and not Hitler.

Question

This sort of relates, so here goes with my question to ya'll. My undergrad chapter is getting pretty political right now between the two assumed candidates for president, and I dont believe it to be good for the brotherhood. Is this something ya'll see/have seen in your chapters. What did ya'll do to tone the rhetoric down, as it is rapidly becoming a battle of wills.

I think both of these situations remind me of what is happening/just happened in the country...

Exclamation Pres out of control

I'm sure many other people have had this problem, but we elected our president and as soon as he got into office he turned into a maniac. He won't let anyone speak during meeting unless he likes it and makes up all these rules because he's president and "he says so". ITs destroying our chapter and morale and brotherhood are at an all-time low. We have real potential but hes squandering it, so it upsets me greatly. Any help would be appreciated
