consultants for your headquarters....

anyone been one? want to be one? or in the process of trying to be one?
i really want to be one of our educational leadership consultants (elc). and i had my first phone interview last week. it went really well, and they told me they were impressed with my application. so i was stoked. now i just have to wait to hear back if they want to fly me out to headquarters for a second interview.

I was a chapter consultant for 92-93. Hardest job I ever had! But I learned an awful lot about my organization, myself, organizational politics & Greek life overall. Got to see the country (OK, the eastern part of it...never got farther west than St. CLoud State). Coming from a little school, it was an excellent experience b/c I got to see what it was like to belong to huge systems like Florida State and tiny systems w/no NPC like Mars Hill. Some of the highest highs & lowest lows I ever experienced, though...from colonizing a new chapter & bid-matching to quota several times, to visiting a chapter on the brink of closure. Very emotional, but priceless all the same.

I have thought about it. However, I'm from a weak chapter and only heald one office so I don't think they'd take me. Also, I'm out of college now and I think they usually hire girls right out of school. It would be interesting though!

Hi! Im currrently a junior, and i have already sent my resume to our headquarters for consideration to be a consultant! I have heard it is an AMAZING experience and I think that if you are really dedicated to your organization than you will definitly enjoy the experience! Best of luck!

AGD has both a traveling Leadership Consultant and a Leadership Advisor--an alumna that attends graduate school where we have a chaper currently "struggling" or needing help.

At the end of my senior year I was very determined to be an LC. I wanted to help my Fraternity while traveling the country and Canada. I sent in my application and resume and awaited word on their decision.

However, an unfortunate situation of a personal nature happened, and I was forced to apologize and ask the powers that be to take my application out of the running. I was disappointed, but I think everything eventually worked out.

I do hope to apply for an LA position if and when I do return to graduate school. Hopefully it'll be at a campus that might be in need of a Leadership Advisor.

Just a minor correction to the otherwise stellar post of my sister: Leadership Advisors are not just assigned to chapters that are struggling. LAs may be assigned to *any* chapter that IHQ feels needs a little boost in any number of areas. In the same way that LAs can help a chapter that is stumbling to recover their footing, they can also help a good chapter become an outstanding chapter!

LAs are all about kicking our chapters up a notch to the next level! (With all due respect to Emeril, lol)

Field Secretary, Field Supervisor, Consultant, whatever the name.
I was one for TKE 1957-60. Visited 95 chapters, started 17...which I think is a record still standing. It was a wonderful,
low paying, but tremendous experience. I ended up with four
degrees, finished as a dean, but the field experience I got was
better'n all the other stuff. I met several field reps from many
other outfits, virtually all said the same. Aside from loving my Fraternity, it was the single best experience I ever had in life.
If you want to travel, broaden your horizons, do good for us all,
jump at it! It is a wonderful trek, and I have helped others do it,
a great preparation for life, sales and education.
Again...go for it...you will love it...or something is wrong...
Old Teke fielder...still playing fraternity and it's still great!

I DO want to be a recruitment specialist. Call me weird, but I LOVE recruitment. All of it. The planning, the parties, the voting, the drama- EVERYTHING.

But that is not paid.

I am very pleased that a former Chapter President from one of the chapters I served as Division Vice President is now a Delt Chapter Consultant and is having a wonderful time.

I had an e-mail from him earlier this week reporting that he had visited my home chapter (Beta) at Ohio University and that things are going well there.

A former president at one of my other chapters served as a chapter consultant for two years, and also loved it.

Go for it.

I applied to be a Collegaite Development Consultant for DG this year. I was one of the 20 women to be offered an interview in Columbus in February. Only 10 women are chosen. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of them. But the experience of interviewing and meeting the other candidates was one in itself. I would always encourage someone who feels strongly about their organization to apply for this type of position. I actually have a friend who has been chosen as a FIJI field secretary for the next two years. I told him that I'd live vicariously through him since he's going to be doing what I wanted to do!

good news...and bad news...

i got an email from the man in charge if interviewing the consultants for my headquarters. i have been selected for a second interview, and they need my availability because they want to fly me to our headquarters for the interview. the bad news is that i have had some unforseen incidents happen (none witch i care to discuss...so please dont ask) and i may not be elligible. i called my headquarters today and they said they would discuss it and get back to me.... so keep your fingers crossed!!
