Class Names?

Does anyone know how each class of a Fraternity gets its name? Also why certain names get skipped?

Yes, I can answer that.

Pledge classes usually get named in one of two ways or both.

First way: Name of Semester=Pledge class name. For example "The Fall '01" class was after the "Spring '01" class.

Second way: For the Greek letter, in order. Alpha was the first class. Then Beta, and so on.

Some names get skipped for various reasons. In my fraternity, there is no "Alpha Alpha" class, because there is no Alpha Alpha chapter, we don't use double letters. It goes from Omega to Alpha Beta, and from Beta Alpha to Beta Gamma and so on.

Some groups never us omega for a pledge class or for a chapter.

Other groups will have the pledges or pledge trainer come up witha name for the class.

Regarding skipping certain names, any idea why there would be no Sigma class in SAE? I had assumed it was because there is a Sigma in the name, but I was told that was incorrect.

I would ask an SAE. If they don't tell you, it's privileged information and not for you to know.

If it took longer to scroll down and copy and paste a few links then I wouldn't have bothered.

We have each pledge class come up with their own greek letters to represent their pledge class. The letters are supposed to 3 meanings, one of them is a secret to only that pledge class, its really cool.
