Your college pad???
So...
what does everyone's college pad look like?
I'm in the process of renovating mine
it's looking rather phenominal in my opinion
My focus pieces are a large tree framing my television center which is faced by a throne-like chair with an antiquish table before it. This throne is framed by a large "No Parking anytime" sign connected to the pole. With a huge flag pinned against the adjacent wall...I'm looking for one of the huge Abercrombie & Fitch posters to put in there somewhere, also there is plaid drapped over my windows...My bedroom is plain except that my bed is surrounded by plaid that acts as a 4 poster bed curtain around my bed and I've got another matress on it's side between the wall and my bed acting as a shelf of sorts for my bed, making the coolest little space for my bed, with plaid drapped from the roof of it to make it appear that I live inside a plaid box
Any creative little suggestions would be very welcomed...

This is kinda off the subject, but I thought I would tell it anyway. Last year, during work week, I went to this party with a few of my sisters. This guy that lived there took a liking to me. He told me that he wanted a girl's opinion on how to decorate his bedroom, so I should come look at it with him! I really wonder if he thought this was being slick. I still laugh about it though.
Another time, I was chilling at this apartment with a few sisters and the guys that lived there. One of them told me he just got a really cool new poster, and I had to come to his room to see it. I should have told him he wasn't very original (see above).
Cory, you are much more respectable for posting on here, because you obviously have pure intentions. I think plants are cool. I know they require a bit of work, but they really give your room a nice feel. Maybe if you got a little cactus or something, I think those are pretty low maintenence.
It seems like every frat boy I know has either a lava lamp or blacklight, so I would avoid that. It looks to much like you are trying to create mood lighting. Also, all those beer posters are just kinda silly.
Plants, though, go with the plants. I promise they will make you happy.

My college pad is a work in progress: My friend(also an AXO) and I are renting a house and we move in Aug 10 - just two days after I return from my trip to Phoenix/LA.
I am so pyched about this house - because it has so much character. It has fruit trees outside and a flower bed in the front as well as a vegetable garden - a grad student previously rented the house for the last three years. It has a giant backyard with a fire pit for roasting marshmellows, parties, ect.
You walk in to a large living room with hardwood floors and sculpted ceilings and a window thats almost the length and heights of one wall. Off the living room is a hallway and on the left is a little room - could be a bedroom but we are making it a computer room/study. The door is sliding so thats kind of neat.
Then on the right is a huge bedroom, with an awesome ceiling and cool carpet. Then we have our kitchen - rather cozy and then our bathroom and laundry room, We also have stairways that lead you up to the second floor - which my roomie has clained most of. It is absolutely darling - three little rooms all connected together - each room is just large enough for a bed and dresser and it also has adorable windows.
Other awesome extras - our backyard comes up to the back of 2 of my sisters one bedroom apt in an apt complex with a swimming pool and my house is two blocks from the Mall - this could prove to do more harm than good if I am in one of those moods where I want a new outfit before I go out.
Right know as I type, our house is being painted and cleaned and prepped for our move in - I'll have to keep you posted.
SigmaChiCard - whers your apt in Louisville -is it by UofL?

I put a decent amount of work into my room last year. The loft in it was built like 5 or 6 years ago, and is still good, but I repainted it, repainted the walls, tore the carpet out, and put down vinyl tile. I also built an entertainment center for all of my electronics crap, which isn't much, but it needed a home anyway. Our rooms are hard to work with, 9x13, so they're cozy, esp. with 2 desks, 2 dressers, a couch, and an entertainment center. luckily we had a full loft for 2 beds and storing much junk. I'm moving to a different room next year, an all senior hall, except one sophomore. I hope he doesn't mind partying

Well since I decided to stay local im still living at home but its really not that bad. I get to stay in our F.R.O.G (furnished room over garage, for you northerners ). Anyways its basically one giant room so being able to save space is a priority, so everything I have has its own little place to go. One thing that I really thought added to my room was this nice throw rug that my mom gave me, it looks great. Im really into re-sale furniture you can get a great couch for twenty dollars and not worry if someone spills something on it or if gets torn up. (maybe its just my friends who tear up couches) I have gone through about three couches this year. Anyways like I said everything has its place but you don’t want it to look cluttered so I always try and go with lighter colors and to keep my blinds up I hate that dark cave of a room look.

Well...I moved back home and I think my family just wanted to torture me until I moved back out again because my bedroom is in the basement, which is furnished. The best part is I have no walls...just sheets. Yup that's right...SHEETS. I live in a flippin fort in the basement where everyone does their living.
I have my entertainment center, computer desk, bookshelf, twin bed and stackable containers for a dresser. LIFE IS LOVELY.
Luckily I'll be moving out again September 8th. I've survived 6 months in my fort but I don't advise anyone try living like me for long...it's rather annoying when the sheets fall down and you're trying to change. LOL.

I live in a furnished on-campus apartment. Basically, its a fancy dorm. Its 4 BR/2 bath with a kitchen, living room and laundry room.
I don't have my room decorated much - I was lazy last semester. The rooms in the apartments are crazyass small. I've got so many electronics in my room, it runs a few degrees hotter than the rest of the apartment! LOL! I'm planning on making a french bulletin board for it this year (with the criss-cross ribbons) and getting some nice framed pictures - I don't like posters much.
My roomates and I never really got around to decorating our living room either - we all agreed that since we don't live there full time, year round, why spend a lot of money to decorate it.
I had other roomates that decided to decorate - with pictures of them and their friends!!! I came back from Christmas and the living room was covered with pictures of them!

Well my room must be the standard fraternity house bedroom because I have both a black light and a lava lamp. My mood lighting comes from my Christmas lights that are hung around the ceiling. I am so excited about my new room, I have two electrical plugs this year, side by side of course, unlike last year when I only had one. My focus piece is a sectional red velvet couch, known to all my sorority friends as the "Pimp Couch." Of course I have my Dave Matthews posters, and the infamous "Dueling Brittany's." These started at my old apartment, we had two Brittany Spears posters, one on each side of the TV, and we named them the dueling Brittany's because you could never decide which to look at. I also have my standard issue tie-dye on the ceiling and my microfridge and loft for my bed.
Well I guess I have the typical fraternity house bedroom, no real thought in it, just trying to cram everything I own into one room for a whole year and make it look half presentable.

August 9th, I move into my sorority house. Unfortunately, my roommate is a rho chi, so she won't move in until after rush, so we have to wait to start the decorating, but oh well. This will be the first time in my college career that I will be living with someone I like, so I can't complain too much.
So here's the plan...kinda. Apparently, national housing rules says that girls sharing rooms have to have matching bedspreads, so me and my roomie are getting these woven afghans with the coat of arms on it. They are so nice and thick. (The only reason the house manager is really enforcing this rule is b/c there is a distinct possibility that our national president is coming to visit during rush!!! That means we have to be on our best behavior! ) I think we are going to use our SC state flags as curtains. SC has the coolest flag. It's navy blue with a palmetto tree (which is basically a palm tree) and a crescent moon. I have a tapestry that we're gonna hang from the ceiling, and I bought these cool Chinese lantern lamps to hang over the fireplace. (How cool is that? We have a fireplace! I think it's b/c the house is like 200 years old.) Other than that, our walls will probably just be filled with pictures frames and stuff. I am excited about my ladybug lamp my mom got me b/c ladybugs are my chapter's mascot. I can't wait to move in!
