Nissan

I'll be turning in my piece of shit Jeep Liberty soon. (generally they are not pieces of shit, just the one I had apparently) I've been car searching and my sites are set on a Lexus RX but realistically I can't afford that. I've been thinking about a Nissan Murano or the Ford Edge but I can't decide. I have a lot of family in NY that loved their Nissans. Any suggestions or thoughts?

A good friend of mine is the general sales manager for a Nissan dealership. I'll be getting a new Murano soon!

Apparently the Nissan Murano has a huge blind spot. I say that because I've had THREE of them almost plow right into me this week.

No, they are. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and I've spent so much money on the stupidest repairs. I was just saying last weekend (while I was waiting for my transmission to be repaired) that I wish I could put a Toyota engine in my car.

As for the new car, one of my coworkers has a Nissan Murano and really likes it. She had an X5 prior to that car, if that says anything. I don't know anything about the Ford Edge though. I'll probably get the RX hybrid when I get a new car since I refuse to buy an American car ever again.

Lexus RX

I think that's a spruced up Toyota Highlander.

Have you seen the new highlander though? It's not very cute. And they're making them considerably bigger in the new model. I def. don't need a bigger car. I wish Toyota made a comparable car to the RX. I mean, all the other cars are basically the same as the Lexus models except the RX.

My neighbors looooooove their Ford Edge. So much so that they actually held a garage sale in the fall so they could finally make some room in there because they were determined to keep that car in the garage in the winter. They let their other car sit in the driveway and get snowed and rained on, but that Edge stays warm and dry!

I really like the Edge and if I didn't get the GM employee discount through my dad, I would get an Edge. I'm between a Pontiac Vibe and a Saturn Vue Hybrid. I need to test drive both (I'm too short for a lot of cars) and decide how much money I really want to spend. Do I want the kids to have a college fund or should I just hope they get scholarships?? The former=Vibe, The latter= Vue Hybrid

ETA: Either way, I'm waiting until spring because with the winter we've had lately, with my luck, I'd crash a car the first week I had it!

I went into the dealer in December prepared to buy the Murano but when I sat in it I didn't like the huge blind spot. My Toyota Highlander had much more glass to see thru but I gave it to the son who just graduated. I ended up buying the Altima and I love it. It's hard to get used to sitting low again tho after the SUV.

If you can't decide, and they are both somewhat similar, maybe look into the gas milage if you drive a lot, or see which one comes with a better warranty?

A follow gym rat of mine owns a L/M and Nissan dealership.
I have had work done on several of my cars there and have gotten to know the mechanics there.

He, in the past year, picked up the Nissan car line.
In conversations with the mechanics, who have gained my trust, they say while the Nissan's have a great deal going for them, they see a lot more of them going in next door than many of the L/M's.

When you get down to a car, check out fightingchance.com

If I remember, I will try to PM you my car buying list..

Don't waste your money on the Lexus. As the other posters have indicated, it's basically a Toyota that is more expensive. I was considering the Highlander Sport (had all of the upgrades) and would probably have leased it, but the sales lady was a ditz. I really liked that SUV

I would get the Murano for the reliability. I agree with Benzgirl. Don't waste your money on a Lexus. You're just paying extra $$$ for a Toyota. In Japan Lexus doesn't even exist. They wear the Toyota name badge.

Subaru Tribeca.

Hell just Subaru, I've never been stuck in any snow or mud, I can haul stuff, and the gas mileage is good. Yeah it is foreign, but mine was made in Indiana.
