Guard/dangles

Santa brought me a guard and three dangles for my badge for Christmas, but I don't know how everything is supposed to attach! Does the guard chain go at the front or back of the arrow and do the dangles just dangle, or do they get attached to the guard chain? I'm so confused!

On the back of your badge is a small ring, and that's where the guard connects. Make sure that your guard is going the right way when you attach it (when you put it on, the chain attaches to the top of the crest-that's my biggest pet peeve-women that wear the crest wrong!) As for the dangles, they hang off of the chain connecting the guard to the arrow. Make sure that you pay attention when you put them on so that they are facing front when it's on! (I always try so hard, and then I still end up putting one on backwards!)

^^^Yes, it can be quite challenging! I am the one who puts them on for the girls in my chapter who purchase them (my big taught me!) I use tweezers haha.

A lot of times it's easier to get a jeweler to do it for you! I still have some dangles from undergrad that I need to attach! I have to change out my guard too since I have a special one now...

OK, I've decided to get my guard and everything fixed! I am going to take it to a jeweler's to do. Back when I was in college I attached everything myself with tweezers but I have so many dangles they all fall together in a clump at the bottom and you can't see them properly. So I'm going to get them attached by a jeweler and then I'll post a picture of it or something so y'all can see. Some of my sorority sisters had this done when I was in college so that each dangle was on a separate link and remained really visible. I also have an ABO dangle now that I never got attached (and it's been almost 3 years, eep!!!). I'm going to get it fixed so that I can wear it for international badge day in March hopefully...

It's an award for most outstanding undergrad member--I think it's limited to seniors... (not sure?)

I was nominated by my chapter senior year and then won the award on the province (but not the national) level (this was before regions). Both the province winners (maybe regional winners now???) and the national winner get a specialized guard to wear in recognition. It's pretty cool!

^^Yes that's what the regional winner receives now. And you're correct that it's only for seniors. One of my sisters was the regional winner 2 years ago, and she got a special dangle. I was our chapter's recipient last year (and my big was 3 years ago)!
