Quarantine at Oregon State U (norovirus)

Station KVAL has the story: several members of Phi Delta Theta and Delta Gamma have come down with the illness. Let's hope they recover soon, with no complications:

A slightly earlier article from the local newspaper:

I have never heard of anyone doing this for norovirus. Doesn't Norovirus last 48 hours or so?

I don't know exactly what a norovirus is but a bunch of people across the state got really sick off of raw oysters and the CDC said a norovirus caused it. I'm off to Google to find out what one is--is it a foodborne virus or one that people transmit?

From what I have read about it people usually think that during the winter season that if they start vomiting, etc. they have the flu but actually, that is wrong. The norovirus lasts for about 48 hours and it's what causes the vomiting, usually people that get it get over it pretty quickly and there are no further problems. The flu doesn't cause vomiting.

I'm sure everyone is going to be okay. But, I sure do feel bad for them. Norovirus speads quickly and can be horribly uncomfortable.
