Update: Beta May Return to Illinois in 18 to 48 months?
http://www.dailyillini.com/news/camp...-several-years
Excerpts from ^ article:
After its Sigma Rho chapter was shut down last December, the Beta Theta Pi fraternity may return to campus in the future.
Jud Horras, national Beta Theta Pi organization’s administrative secretary, said the chapter will first need to undergo an elaborate, standardized process for reinstatement.
The reason for the chapter’s termination still remains unclear.
“We keep information as to why the house was closed confidential,” Horras said.
. . . Horras said that the fraternity will remain closed for 18 to 48 months before it can be reinstated.
The exact return date and conditions are entirely dependent on the national fraternity, said University spokeswoman Robin Kaler.
“It doesn’t have anything to do with the University,” Kaler said about the chapter’s return date.
When the fraternity is reinstated, it will be composed of all new members, Horras said.
Recruitment and the process of screening new members will be conducted by specially trained, recent alumni of the fraternity from across the country, Horras said.
. . . As for the Beta Theta Pi house, the fraternity hopes to keep the house for future use, Horras said.
While Beta Theta Pi is waiting to be reinstated, Carrato said the house could be rented out for a few years.
“It’s up to the national fraternity and the owners of the house to decide,” he said.
