Opinion of Delta Chi
So here is a question for the masses. What is your general opinion of the Delta Chi Fraternity? What are they like at your school?

At my school (which has one of the largest Greek systems in the country) D-Chi's were one of the best. I wasn't in that house, but I had several friends on my dorm floor who were, so I went to a lot of their parties. They had social events with pretty much all the best sororities. Others looked upon them as a bunch of muscleheads. I heard they put a lot of emphasis on weight training for some reason. Their weight room was huge.

We didnt have a Delta Chi Chapter at my school but I had a Sociology Professor named Rick Shaw who was a Delta Chi Alum who was a very cool professor. He used to always come to class with a t shirt and jeans. Very laid back guy. Never had a test in his class I think.

Lost their chapter here at the beginning of this semester. See ya, DX. They had very few members, I believe they folded due to lack of numbers.

The D-Chi's on my campus are kind of out of the loop, because the three main, and oldest fraternities on our campus are grouped together, in a triad, leaving behind the Lambda Chi's, Pikes, and D-Chi's. They are commonly labeled as the rich-boys, and are commonly a#$holes. My sorority also has the most heated competition with them during homecomming for the spirit cup. I only know a few personally, and yes they all do appear to come from affluent backgrounds, but have been nice guys.

Laura, come on, you should know better than this. Especially since it's not entirely true. The woman who consented to sex with ONE of the brothers, was married and cried rape. Her husband didn't even know she was stripping; now there's someone who is credible. It wasn't an initiation party, but big brother reveling. The Delta Chi's were let off for the phony rape charge, but suspended for other infractions.
While I too only know a few of them. I know better than to generalize and spread false information. The Delta Chi's that I know are really nice guys whose organization had a problem. Now they are without a chapter and have a lot of defamation to deal with. Your reporting of this incident is almost as sloppy as the Alligator's.

Please, Laura, please, get your facts straight! As someone already said, you're dead wrong on this. You cannot refute videotape evidence that clearly shows consensual sex. What got the fraternity suspended was NOT rape, but the numerous inappropriate activities, including drug use, underage drinking, hazing of pledges, etc. These facts were all reported numerous times in the Gainesville Sun as well as the Alligator (UF's student paper).
Delta Chi is coming back on campus in January 2001 and I wish them the best of luck. I know the guys who are in charge of the "reorganization" process very well and they are committed to getting the fraternity focused on the right ideals this time around. Old members are all being screened before they will be allowed to be active again. Any who are not dedicated to the proper goals will be on alumni status.
This is a group I would let my own little brother join. Delta Chi's are great guys, fun personality, real sense of style, just the kind of guys that make you laugh and laugh.
As a final note, I have seen Laura make numerous posts on this site regarding a plethora of topics related to Greek life. While she surely is very dedicated and involved in her own sorority, I must state that her local group, Kappa Zeta Pi, ***is not*** recognized by the Panhellenic Council, IFC, or any of the other Greek organizing bodies. In reality, she and a couple dozen other women have created a club that I am sure they really enjoy, but operates far differently than any other greek organization at UF. Laura and her sisters are not allowed to participate in Panhellenic meetings or activities, nor do they participate in socials, etc. with the National fraternities and sororities here.
All I'm saying is that for one who talks so much about the different Greeks at UF, she has little to none real, actual information.

how would you know how her organization is run?
From reading posts on this site I have seen how Laura sometimes mixes up her information on posts, but I seriously doubt that is done either maliously(sp?) or intentionally.
Can you tell me that you honestly believe that your sisterhood can be defined by your organizations' belonging to Panhellenic? I think not, and think Laura's organization is just as Greek as yours (unless you are one of those people who operate under the assumption that any non social greek organization is a "fake" greek.) For someone in the other thread to claim how much sisterhood your org has, you don't have very much love for other greek org's. Please while you are berating Laura's organization for the actions of one person, remember how many times posted on this site it has been said, if only for the actions of one or two members. (No offense to you Laura to imply you are bad in any way.) Also, may I remind you there was a time when your organization was still a local when you were not recognized by NPC or IFC, or hung out with greeks, or were allowed to host socials either.
We all need to realize that love for our own org should be shown in how we interact with all of Greek Life.

Delta Chi's are great! I know a bunch of guys in the house on my campus. This spring they just came back and had a super rush, with some awesome pledges. Super guys to spend time with.

The three fraternities at my campus, UW-Whitewater, which form the triad are Phi Chi Epsilon, Tau Kappa Epsilon, and Phi Sigma Kappa.

For some reason, Delta Chi keeps a low profile on ECU's campus and they don't really advertise rush on campus either. A lot of the current actives are Juniors and Seniors. I heard rumors saying they got in trouble with our IFC a while back, but like I said, just a rumor. I don't know for sure.

The Delta Chi's at my school are the greatest! They are maybe my favorite fraternity (and I don't pick favorites)!
Jae, I feel the love for you -- wish I could tell you who I was but I won't. I'll just say that Homecoming 1999 was one awesome week. Maybe we should pair up again?
